Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Starts easily and ran smoothly through both engine and drivetrain. During a gentle test drive in city traffic and on main roads, the car felt lively, stable, and comfortable. Steering, handling, clutch, gearbox, and brakes all performed well, consistent with the car’s mileage and age.

The car has not been inspected on a lift, but everything visible appeared to be in good condition. No remarks regarding the undercarriage were noted at the most recent vehicle inspection.

  • Interior condition:

A pleasant and comfortable original interior in well-preserved condition. Good seating comfort, along with well-kept door panels, trim, headliner, and textile mats. Fitted with molded protective floor mats.

Steering wheel, controls, gauges, and instrument panel are all in nice condition. All electrical functions appear to be working well. Some pixel loss is present on the display.

  • Exterior condition:

Nice, seemingly original paintwork with some scuffs on the bumpers, otherwise in good condition considering the mileage and age. Glass, trim, rubber, plastic, and lighting components are all in good shape.

Good winter wheels fitted with quality friction tires, though there are some scuffs and light surface rust. Engine bay and trunk are in good, original condition.

  • General condition:

Now is the time to snap up a well-preserved '90s model—these are cars that were a common sight on our roads not long ago, but are now disappearing at a rapid pace and suddenly end up on the endangered list.

This Saab is a fine example, truly deserving of a place in the world of classics and enthusiasts. Not just because Saab has achieved cult status, but simply because it’s a genuinely good car. Well worth preserving.

Facts about the model

With the 9-3, Saab adopted the naming convention introduced with the 9-5. The new 9-3 model was an evolution of the Saab 900, which had been launched as a 1993 model.

The first generation of the 9-3, produced from 1998 to 2003, was primarily a facelift of the previous 900. It featured redesigned bumpers, a new grille, and a revised rear end—partially inspired by the styling of the larger 9-5. The chassis and crash safety were also updated.

Body styles included three- and five-door hatchbacks as well as a popular convertible. Saab also produced a high-performance special edition, the Viggen.

The 9-3 was a relatively popular mid-size car that combined practicality with enjoyable driving dynamics and the unmistakable Saab character.
