"A Citroën that is in top mechanical condition with a wonderful patina. Runs perfectly and is a pleasure to drive."

Description

The car was originally sold new to a veterinarian in Corsica. It was grey at the time and was driven there until his death in 1967. It then remained with his son for 11 years before being acquired by a sea captain from Ronneby, Sweden. He transported it to Marseille, where acquaintances knew a painter who took care of it and repainted it black. Six months later, the captain returned, picked up the car, and drove it back to Sweden, where it was registered in 1983. Tofta Bil in Kristianstad purchased it for their collection in 2015 and later loaned it out for the film production. The current owner bought the car in 2023 and has used it sparingly during summer when the weather permitted.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The car runs well and the brakes work effectively; the engine was rebuilt by Stålnacke’s DS Shop in Gothenburg.

  • Interior condition:

The interior is in good condition and shows signs of normal use. The driver's seat has some wear damage, and the rear seat has a few moisture stains.

  • Exterior condition:

The car was repainted in the late 1970s and shows cracking in some areas. This adds to its charming patina, and the chrome also has wear that complements the car's overall look.

  • General condition:

Road-ready vintage car in a usable and pleasant condition.

Facts about the model

The Citroën B11 offers sweeping, beautiful lines from the 1930s combined with good road handling, excellent suspension comfort, and front-wheel drive. The design was considered far ahead of its time, and the model was produced from 1934 to 1957. Citroën’s official model name was not B11 but Traction Avant, which means "front-wheel drive" in French. In Sweden, the Traction Avant is often nicknamed “Gangster Citroën,” a name referring to its frequent appearance in films where it was used by criminals to escape the police.
The B11 was the most common variant of the Traction Avant. As is often the case with French cars, the number 11 refers to the fiscal horsepower. The letter B stands for Berline, indicating a closed sedan.
