Description

The third generation Alfa Romeo Spider, with the additional name Aerodynamica. The car was imported in 2006 and was bought by a car enthusiast couple from Värmland. In 2010, when Alfa Romeo celebrated its 100th anniversary, they drove the car down to Italy and participated in the jubilee. The car has had the same owner since it arrived in Sweden. The odometer shows 150 450 km. We believe the mileage is accurate. The owner is now selling the car, as it is no longer used after her husband's passing. The original instruction book and toolkit are missing. The car has passed a new inspection and is approved until March 2025. A fun detail is the homemade rear spoiler, which has a sleeker look than the original Kamm-tail. Equipped with a luggage rack on the rear hatch, perfect for trips down to the continent.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Normal standard. Starts easily and runs smoothly. Four-cylinder 2.0L engine with overhead camshafts driven by a chain and two valves per cylinder. The advertised output is 128 hp. Manual 5-speed gearbox.

  • Interior condition:

The interior is in good condition. The seats were reupholstered a few years ago, so they are nice and firm to sit in. The handle for the trunk opening has come loose and needs to be reattached.

  • Exterior condition:

The car has an older but nice paint job. Some paint has been applied to the edges of the door and trunk lid. See picture. The original spoiler on the trunk lid has been replaced with a sleeker one that was custom made by a professional. The chrome surrounds on the headlights are painted black. Equipped with aftermarket aluminum wheels. Original wheels are included. The convertible top has some small, older repairs as shown in the pictures. There is a small repair in the bottom of the spare wheel well that does not meet professional standards. The windshield has some wear from the wipers.

When we test drove the car, the outside door handles got stuck on right side. The door can be opened from the inside as usual. See the pictures.

  • General condition:

A nice, road-ready car. The condition is typical for the car's age and mileage. There are a few minor points to mention.

Owner's comment

We bought the car in 2006 and had a lot of fun with it. In the summer of 2010, we drove the car down to Italy and participated in Alfa Romeo's 100-year celebration. We put the car on a car train through Germany and then drove over the Alps. The whole trip was an exciting adventure. It was mainly my late husband who was the car enthusiast. Now it is rarely driven, and I am selling it with the hope that it will bring joy to the next owner. There is a small banner on the garage wall from the 100-year celebration, which can come along as a fun item.

Facts about the model

Alfa Romeo was founded as a car manufacturer in Milan in 1910. Alfa Romeo is one of the most classic European sports car manufacturers. The typically Italian racing color red (Rosso Alfa 514) is often found on Alfa Romeo sports cars. The Spider was introduced as a new model in Geneva on March 10, 1966 and had a long, round rear end. It was nicknamed the Duetto, and the official name was Alfa Romeo Spider 1600. In 1970, the Spider generation 2 was introduced with a square rear end, the so-called Kamm-tail design. This design is characterized by an abruptly cut-off rear end. The design was based on research carried out by Wunibald Kamm in the 1930s. A Kamm-tail reduces air resistance almost as effectively as a long, drawn-out tail, but is more practical. It also provides more aerodynamic stability as lift forces are reduced. In 1982, the third generation of the Alfa Spider was introduced. The Spider is one of the longest-running convertibles in the world, with production between 1966 and 1993. The last cars were made in 1994 as model year. According to information from the Swedish Transport Agency, there are less than 180 Alfa Romeo Spider cars of the model years 1983 to 1989 registered in Sweden.
