"A car that has passed inspection and is ready to drive, in a nice condition."

Description

This Volvo PV831 was once a taxi, just like the car model that dominated the taxi fleets during the 1950s. It has been equipped with a 4-cylinder Perkins diesel engine, which is a nice alternative to the 6-cylinder gasoline engine. The brake system, including the propshaft brake, has also been fully restored. The taxi equipment, such as the meter, is still in the car and it still spins and ticks.

The car seats 7 people with two foldable extra seats in the rear compartment. It is a perfect car for larger families in a nice, usable condition. The Volvo PV831, also known as the "Droska", was produced between 1950 and 1958. It was mainly used as a government and military service car, but it was also available for sale to private customers and taxi companies. It was powered by a 6-cylinder engine and had a top speed of about 75 mph (120 km/h). The car was equipped with a number of luxurious features for its time.

The PV831 was produced in relatively small numbers, with only about 4135 cars built in total. As a result, it is now a highly sought-after collector's item among Volvo enthusiasts and classic car collectors.

Facts about the model

The Volvo PV800 series, commonly referred to as the "Droska" (carriage), was one of Volvo's older and most appreciated taxi models, seating 7-8 passengers. In late 1957, Volvo discontinued the production of this model without introducing a successor. Volvo needed manufacturing capacity for other models, especially as the sales of the PV 544 were increasing and they were about to present the Amazon. With the discontinuation of the PV800 series, Volvo lost the entire taxi market because the Amazon was too small to be used as a taxi. It would take another ten years for Volvo to introduce a suitable new car, in the form of the Volvo 140.
