"A beautiful car from the delightful fifties era, with colors, chrome, glass, shape, and attitude."

Description

This car was registered for traffic in Sweden in June 2005. It is said to come from California. Today, it is in very good condition and both the exterior and interior have been restored in recent years, as well as some of the technology. Unfortunately, the weather was bad during the photoshoot, which is why there are pictures taken both indoors and outdoors.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Starts easily and runs smoothly, although a longer test drive was not possible due to the bad weather. The car felt stable and in good condition. Underneath, there are no visible signs of rust and it is said to have a California background. It has been equipped with an electric power steering, electric wipers, and an automatic transmission has been installed, although the original steering column is included. The engine is said to have been bored out from 292 to 302. The car has a new fuel tank, but the fuel gauge may not be entirely reliable.

  • Interior condition:

The seats, rear seat, sides, fabric carpets, and headliner are all in very good condition. They have been redone in recent years. The car also features a powerful stereo with a subwoofer and USB function, hidden behind an older radio and record player.

  • Exterior condition:

Nice paint job, glass, and chrome. Mag wheels with good tires. The engine compartment and trunk are also in good condition. Unfortunately, the wheels and the bottom of the body got a bit dirty during the photo shoot. The owner will provide some summer pictures to show the wheels' good condition, among other things.

  • General condition:

A really nice and presentable classic in great condition. It's made for cruising and summer trips.

Facts about the model

Fairlane was a model that Ford in the United States manufactured between 1955 to 1970. The name came from Henry Ford's estate, Fair Lane. Fairlane was Ford's top model that would compete with, among others, Chevrolet Bel Air. When the Galaxie model was introduced in 1959, it became a setback for Fairlane.

The first generation was produced between 1955-1956. The second generation was produced between 1957-1959. It was available in the Fairlane and Fairlane 500 versions. The latter was offered in six different bodies, including a steel convertible. The two-door HT was called the Victoria Coupe. The Fairlane models were successful, and in 1957, Ford took over and sold more cars than Chevrolet for the first time since 1935.
