Porsche 356 SC 1600 Super 90 — 1964

SC stands for "Super C model," and it was the most powerful basic design for 356s in the previous two years. A slightly stronger engine and disc brakes, for example. The car is in a excellent unrenovated condition.

"A stylish and well-maintained car in its original design. An older repaint that has served well. There are a few minor flaws and improvements. The engine is restarted after a long period of inactivity and has an approved Inspection/MOT, but a Service is required. The meter reads 23,480 miles, but it could also read 123,480 miles. (Aprox 200 000km)"

Description

This car was sold to a VW and Porsche collector in central Sweden who is downsizing their collection due to age. The owner purchased the car in 2006 in Germany during the Techno Classica trade show from a Porsche oldtimer company that had imported it from the United States two years before.
The car reportedly had three owners in the United States and rolled in a dry climate. The previous owner had the car for over 20 years and was a member of PCA (Porsche Club America), see decal / picture. He wanted the car to be in perfect condition, so he had fully repainted in the 1990s. Very well done and still in excellent condition, but there are some minor scratches (polishable) on the front bonnet and engine cover.
We thoroughly examined the body, and the above appears to be correct, as the car does not appear to have been restored in the body, as everything is original and in good condition. We only found a minor fix in the floor near the pedals (which is a common rust spot even on dry US cars). It's complete and lovely on the inside. Black leather upholstery. It starts easily and drives well on the road. However, because it hasn't been driven since 2010, a full service is advised.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The car is now started by professionals, Fahlke's Classic Car VW-Porsche workshop in Åmål. It works fine after cleaning the fuel system and carburetor. In addition, the car was driven to Inspection/MOT and was approved without comment. The car is enjoyable to drive as is, but before the new owner puts it to more use, it should receive a thorough service, as it has been sitting idle for more than ten years.

  • Interior condition:

The beautiful original leather upholstery, dashboard, and door cards can be seen in the photos. The fabric carpet is original and a little dry, but it would look great with a new one. The rubber mats are nice. The headliner is fine, but there is a minor flaw. High-quality instruments, mouldings, and other details

  • Exterior condition:

Overall, the condition is fantastic. A paint improvement can be seen on the right wing edge at the back, a small slight indentation can be seen on the left rear bumper at the top, and a small paint / rust blister can be seen on the lower right door corner (see picture).
The car has been in the garage for ten years (near Kumla) and requires polishing, paint treatment, and interior renovation in order to achieve the finish it deserves.

  • General condition:

Unusually nice and honest vehicle that appears to have been well maintained. Fahlke's workshop in Åmål on tel: 0761 022063, who have the car there for viewing during the auction on behalf of the owner, can answer detailed questions.

Facts about the model

Porsche 356 SC. The last version of the 356 was the 356 C introduced for the 1964 model year. It featured disc brakes all around, as well as an option for the most powerful pushrod engine Porsche had ever produced, the 95 hp (71 kW) "SC". Production of the 356 peaked at 14,151 cars in 1964, the year that its successor, the new 911, was introduced to the US market (it was introduced slightly earlier in Europe). The company continued to sell the 356 C in North America through 1965 as demand for the model remained quite strong in the early days of the heavier and more "civilized" 911. The last ten 356s (cabriolets) were assembled for the Dutch police force in March 1966 as 1965 models. Källa Wikipedia
