Description
Early Allis Chalmers is a crawler fitted with a 4-cylinder gasoline and kerosene engine with just over 30 hp. Repainted a while back, still good paint and fine patina. This model was manufactured between 1933 and 1942, and was taken to Sweden via the Swedish tractor company. Good tracks, winch and Towbar, and complete except for a broken light.

Allis Chalmers var likt Caterpillar tidiga med att erbjuda så kallade krypkedjetraktorer som styrdes med spakar. Med en sådan här klarade man styva jordar och stora redskap – där de vanliga stortraktorerna gick bet. Svagheten för bandtraktorerna var dess bristande användningsområden. Därför blev de heller aldrig någon succé bland de svenska jordbruken.
I USA var det annorlunda och den amerikanska marknaden för bandtraktorer dominerades under 20- och 30-talen av Caterpillar och Cletrac. En av de mindre var Monarch från Wisconsin. Mot slutet av 1920-talet hamnade de i ekonomiska svårigheter, och 1928 togs verksamheten över av Allis Chalmers som därmed tog sig in på marknaden. Model M som kom 1935 var försedd med samma motor som Allis Chalmers Model U.
