The mechanic, taxi owner and village blacksmith outside Huskvarna bought this car from an acquaintance to use it as a donor car for the renovation of the sister car Wolseley 4/44., But the MG-Magnetten was too good, so he renovated this car as well. When the owner retired in the early 2000's, the big plan was to renovate two nice older English cars. The other is the Wolseley 4/44 which is also being sold now, after his death. This car has been rolling in central Sweden and after a life as a utility vehicle, it was stored and deregistered, when it would get the new number plates in the 1970s. In 2003, it was picked up and placed in the workshop. During the years 2006 to 2009, the car was renovated. The body was dismantled and blasted, the floor was replaced and other sheet metal was repaired. The body was then epoxy primed. Everything is done very professionally without visible welds and with the right form and style. The car is just as nice underneath and under the carpets as on top. It is noticeable on the fit and surfaces that a professional worked with the car. Engine and carburettor, rear axle and brakes and more were also renovated. The work and the car's history are documented in several folders that come with it.
When the body was painted and finished in beautiful blue two-tone colours, the car was reassembled. The goal was to keep as much of the original details as possible (although there is a lot to buy new in England). Therefore, some trim and chrome details are a bit spotty, but rubber seals are new (almost all). The interior is original except for new door cards and headliner. Very nice overall impression and best of all is that the car is very nice to drive. An MG should be sporty and this one really is. 1500 engine and dual SU carburettors, its sporty with a wonderful sound. The car actually peaks at almost 140 km/h, which was a lot at the time.

Starts easily and runs fine. Rapid engine, good steering and brakes. Slight transmission noise at higher speeds (normal). Really fun to drive.
The meter reading is 22601 km. We have had a hard time determining how long the car has gone. The engine was renovated in 2008, so the owner's thinks the car has traveled 122,600 km. -
Interior condition
Very nice interior in original condition. Carpets, headliner and door cards are new, the rest untouched. The driver's seat is worn (see picture), but it gives a nice original patina and is easy to fix if you want.

Exterior condition
The body is very nice. Good fit and professionally repainted in 2008 and still just as nice now. Only a few small paint blisters on the ventilation hatch in front of the windscreen. The chrome on the rear bumper has flaked on top, behind the rear wheels (see photos). Some rubber seals are dry.

A nice, professionally renovated car. Needs chrome plating of rear bumpers and new upholstery in the front to be in top condition, but perfectly OK as is.

Facts about the model
Magnette ZA visades först oktober 1953 på London Motor Show och var den första MG:n med självbärande kaross. Designad av Gerald Palmer som är mest känd för Jowett Javelins eleganta former. ZA var en mer sportig modell jämfört med systerbilen Wolseley 4/44. Den hade större motor vilket gav den en toppfart på 138 km/h, vilket var väldigt mycket på engelska vägar vid denna tid.
