Description
The car was purchased new in Italy by a Swedish engineer who, after completing his project, returned it to Borlänge, Sweden. It finally found a new new owner in Borlänge and was sold in 1983 to Borås, where the new owner ran it from 1983 to 1990, when a renovation began. The current owner purchased the Pagoda from his friend the owner since he was unmotivated to finish the renovation he began many years ago, and the current owner reasoned that "now something must happen with this car." The engine was completed and extensively refurbished. In actuality, this 230 SL has only had three former owners, and the engine has barely traveled a little more than 100 kilometers since the car was completed.

The interior MB-Tex, as well as the mat set, are both brand new and gorgeous. Overall, the interior appears to be brand new. Cabriolet roof and hardtop are complete, tidy, and functional.

Exterior condition
Dunkelrotbraun 460, a remarkably attractive dark reddish-brown solid original color, has been professionally repainted. The chrome accessories and chrome wheel trim for the steel rims are available and included in the luggage compartment.The current owner believes that the car looks better without the chrome wheel trims.

Facts about the model
Varje generation av Mercedes-Benz SL blir en så kallad klassiker, vissa nästan direkt, andra först efter viss inkubationstid. En 230 SL som på bilderna hör avgjort till den förra kategorin. Det räcker med att kasta en hastig blick på den skenbart enkla, eleganta karossen för att förstå varför. !
Linjeföringen brukar tillskrivas en under 1950-, 60- och 70-talen välkänd formgivare, Paul Bracq, men projektledarna Karl Wilfert och Friedrich Geiger var minst lika viktiga för tillkomsten av ”Pagodamodellen”, internt kallad W113. Tekniskt sett utgår bilen från den samtida sedangenerationen ”fen-Mercedes” W110/111 men har 35 centimeter kortare axelavstånd. Motorn, en trimmad variant av personbilsseriens maskin, pendelaxlarna bak och den genomgående höga byggkvaliteten var några av kännetecknen – men stilbrottet med föregångarna 190 SL och den extrema 300 SL var samtidigt totalt.
W113 var mer sportbil än 190 SL någonsin blev, samtidigt lättillgänglig för en större publik än den ur fabrikens racingverksamhet skapade 300 SL. Plötsligt såg de gamla SL-bilarna rätt gammalmodiga ut. Den nya serien var en modern, snabb och högklassig touringvagn för två, med gott om plats för bagage och stor bekvämlighet, ändå inte främmande för mer aktiva körinsatser.
Tre motorutföranden fanns under modellens levnad 1963–71. Av dem anses just 230 SL vara spänstigast. Motorn har rivig karaktär och de speciella metallbussningarna i hjulupphängningen ger skärpa i framfarten. På 280 SL ersattes de av gummibussningar och komforten ökade. Så kallade halvgördeldäck var en annan teknisk nyhet i 230 SL, en konstruktion som skulle ge både grepp och den komfort Mercedeskunder krävde.

- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
