"The owner, a Ford enthusiast, has recently gone over the car and carried out several improvements, including replacing the engine gaskets, renovating the carburetor, refreshing the suspension, and installing a Simon Sport rear exhaust. The car has also been serviced with new spark plugs and HT cables. It runs well once warmed up, as is typical for older American cars, and drives fine with no issues in the gearbox or brakes."

Description

The current owner, a young Ford Mustang enthusiast, bought the car in 2022 and worked on it to make it a reliable summer driver, enjoying it for several years. Now, he's looking for an earlier Mustang model. The car’s details align well with its original specifications: a 2-door hardtop with standard bucket seats, finished in Wimbledon White with a red crinkle and Kiwi vinyl interior. It features a 3-speed manual gearbox and was built in February as an export car, likely assembled in Denmark, where Ford had a factory.

The car underwent an older renovation and repaint, likely in the early 1990s. The front left wing has been replaced with a plastic one, and there are visible signs of welding work on the inner front wings, boot space, and underbody. The lower edges of the rear wings have been repaired, though the body filler is starting to crack and will need attention over time. However, the car presents well overall, runs and drives smoothly, and requires no urgent repairs. It can be driven as is for many years, with a realistic value comparable to that of a Volvo Amazon. The car is inspection-exempt for life, and while the current mileage is likely 178,097 km, there is no paperwork to verify the exact figure.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

As mentioned earlier, the owner has put in a lot of work to ensure the car drives well and feels reliable. During the test drive, it performed fine but requires proper warming up from cold. The petrol gauge is not working correctly, and the heating system is disconnected in the engine bay. The car is inspection-exempt and ready to drive home. It has good wheels with nice hubcaps and tires in decent condition; however, the front passenger tire has a slow air leak.

  • Interior condition:

Interior is clean, tidy, and complete. The driver’s seat has a split seam, but the rest of the seats are in nice condition with only a few marks. The headliner is in good shape, and a new rubber mat has been fitted. The dashboard features a well-maintained top panel and a newer clock fitting, overall presenting cleanly with a few age-related marks. Additionally, the car is equipped with a Bluetooth radio for modern convenience.

  • Exterior condition:

This is an older renovated car that presents well but has a few cosmetic issues. The lower edges of the rear wings show signs of cracked body filler and some rust (see pictures), which can be addressed over time. The front left wing is plastic, and while the fitting alignment is okay, it's not perfect, and there are signs of previous welding work scattered around the car and underbody. Overall, it's not a rusty car, and the paintwork is in good condition, featuring only a few small marks and touch-ups in places (see pictures).

  • General condition:

This is a perfect Mustang for anyone looking to enjoy it as-is for a summer car. The cosmetic fixes can be addressed over time, with nothing urgent requiring immediate attention. Priced very reasonably, it offers a great opportunity to step into the world of classic American cars.
