"A beautiful pastel-colored 1950s classic."

Description

The Isabella was restored around 25 years ago, and given how long it’s been, the restoration must have been done meticulously. Since then, the car has driven about 50,000 kilometers. It appears to be in great condition, with a glossy finish. The engine also underwent a thorough overhaul during the same restoration. The color choice was unique at the time, and according to the owner, there are only two cars with this color in Sweden. So, if you want to stand out on the road, this is an easy choice thanks to the distinctive paint.

It was an expensive car in its day, and while most competitors were producing four-door models, this was a two-door car. The vehicle is in very nice, road-ready condition. The odometer reading suggests that it has likely rolled over once, meaning the car has traveled 147,670 kilometers.

Facts about the model

The German brand Borgward was a top seller in Sweden during its time, heavily marketed under the slogan “Cars from Bremen.” The Isabella began production in 1954 as a replacement for the Hansa 1500. It was a technologically advanced car for its time, featuring a unibody design and a four-cylinder overhead-valve engine with an aluminum head. The four-speed gearbox was operated via a column shift, and the car offered good comfort for its era, with a front bench seat and independent suspension on all four wheels.

Borgward Isabella was known for its genuine German quality, ranking above Opel but just below Mercedes-Benz in terms of prestige. The Isabella was produced until 1962, with around 200,000 units made, including versions such as the standard two-door sedan, coupé, cabriolet, and station wagon.
