Description

According to archives and registers, there is a history indicating that it was registered in Sweden as early as 1912, which is the car's model year. The engine number 102169 also shows, upon checking lists from the USA, that it was manufactured in March 1912. This at least confirms that this particular example has been in the country since the car was new. Unfortunately, there are no documents with the current owner, but for those who wish to search in the National Archives, there is surely much to uncover about the history of this early Model T Ford.

The car comes from the Sandahl collections, which Bilweb Auctions AB will be selling in early spring over four different themes; starting with some of the family's popular workhorses, primarily Mercedes, Volkswagen, and a joker, then half a dozen exclusive fine Rolls-Royces and Jaguars, followed by a selection of early Ford cars and a Chevrolet from the infancy and youth of motoring. The last will be nine different prize-winning and representative full-size USA cars from 1959, the year when the fins were at their largest.

Today, Sandahls is one of Sweden's largest family-owned transport conglomerates. The company was founded in Värnamo in 1949. Older generations have in their private museum collected about 40 cars under various themes for many years. Bilweb Auctions AB has now been tasked with selling these in four rounds in February and March this year.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The engine was not started at the time of documentation, but it can be turned over without any issues. The car also rolls easily. According to reports, all mechanical parts are in fine working order, but it requires an inspection and service before use.

  • Interior condition:

Fluffy and fine leather sofas along with lacquered wood details in beautiful vintage boat finish. And more brass, of course.

  • Exterior condition:

Extra fine and shiny, black as piano lacquer, beautifully contrasting against all the golden brass details. The convertible top is whole and neat, and relatively easy to handle, with white moisture stains on the inside from the top being folded down. These are easy to wash away.

  • General condition:

A particularly sought-after early Model T in a very fine condition and above all; correctly, properly, and extraordinarily well renovated.
