"Nice model from Ford. This example is in very good condition. Mostly original, and the car is overall in good, drivable condition."

Description

Nice American classic that’s well preserved in its original condition.
Originally sold in 1966 to Director Sven Ekebergh in Borrby, located in Österlen. Over the years, the car has had five owners, as far as we can tell. A lot has been done to the car by the previous owner:
New fuel tank, radiator, clutch, starter motor, water pump, timing chain, and a new dual exhaust system (not period-correct).
Main bearings have been replaced. New seals, head gasket, flushed cooling channels, and valve lapping performed. The engine runs incredibly smoothly and quietly.
Transmission seals have been replaced.
Distributor and carburetor have been refurbished.

The car has been repainted during its lifetime and has a nice shine. There is one paint bubble on the hood, but otherwise, the paint is in great condition.
The undercarriage has been scraped and rust-proofed by the current owner.
The current owner has also replaced the master brake cylinder and the trunk mat.
The odometer reading of 37,000 km is not unlikely, but cannot be guaranteed.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The engine purrs quietly and smoothly, and thanks to the dual exhaust system, it delivers a wonderfully deep American rumble—just as it should. All technical functions are working properly, except for the clock. A more modern temperature gauge has been installed for better monitoring. Brakes work well, and the gearbox feels tight.
Original wheels with good tires are mounted. Comes with one key, the original spare wheel, and jack. Rubber seals and glass surfaces are in usable, driver-quality condition.

  • Interior condition:

The interior is in excellent condition with virtually nothing to remark on—except for a small spot on the front seat on the driver’s side, which will likely come out with a proper cleaning. The door panels, carpets, and headliner are all in great shape.

  • Exterior condition:

Shiny and clean exterior with a nice overall finish, though there is a paint bubble on the hood as previously mentioned. The bumpers have been painted due to the chrome being in poor condition. The car has been repainted at some point in its past.

  • General condition:

The overall impression of this car is very positive. It’s a vehicle ready to be enjoyed immediately at summer events and classic car gatherings.

Facts about the model

The Ford Fairlane was a model designation used for passenger cars produced by the Ford Motor Company between 1955 and 2007. The name “Fairlane” comes from Henry Ford’s country estate, “Fair Lane,” located outside Dearborn, Michigan. The Fairlane replaced the Ford Crestline as the brand’s top-of-the-line offering and was primarily intended to compete with the Chevrolet Bel Air.

In the U.S., the model was produced from 1955 to 1970. Over the years, the Fairlane went through many different design changes. It was originally a full-size car and Ford’s flagship model until 1959. With the introduction of the Ford Galaxie that year, the Fairlane was pushed down a rung in the model hierarchy. Starting in 1962, the name was used for a completely new mid-size car, a segment it remained in until production ended in the U.S. In 1968, a more luxurious version of the Fairlane was introduced, called the Ford Torino, and a few years later, the Fairlane name was phased out entirely from the American market.
