Jaguar Mk2 3,8 — 1962

Only 78,840 km on the odometer. This seems consistent with the Jaguar’s condition and overall impression. A very fine car.

"A beautifully restored and exceptionally well-presented Jaguar. It's rare to come across an example this fine."

Description

The Jaguar has been owned by the same family for 23 years. It was purchased by the current owner’s father in Luleå and was originally delivered new in Sweden. At one point a previous owner had arranged to export the car to Norway, but the buyer never collected it.

This example is fitted with the larger Mk 2 engine—3.8 litres and 220 hp. Inside you’ll find dark-red leather upholstery and wood trim finished to near-piano gloss. The interior presents beautifully, and seat belts have been added front and rear. The most recent inspection was passed with no remarks.

Work carried out under the current ownership includes: a full engine rebuild, new clutch friction plates, a complete brake overhaul with several new components, and numerous other mechanical renewals. The car now also sports a stainless-steel exhaust system and power steering. A thick file of receipts is included—no corners have been cut.

Just before the family acquired the car, a previous restoration focused on achieving perfect panel fit, with excellent results. The underbody has been treated and protected. Always garaged and carefully looked after, the Jaguar has been exercised only during the summer months for local outings when the weather allowed.

For servicing and maintenance, the owner and his late father entrusted the well-known Norrland Jaguar specialist Bertil Bäckström of “Jagsport.”

The sale includes extensive documentation, loose spare parts (see photos), and two sets of keys. There is no service book.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The engine has been rebuilt. Runs well in both engine and drivetrain. The overdrive is functioning properly. The clock is not working.

  • Interior condition:

The interior is in excellent condition—among the best Mk2 interiors I’ve seen. There’s not much more to add—just have a look at the photos.

  • Exterior condition:

Finished in a dark green metallic shade, the car’s exterior is in overall good condition. Panel fit is excellent. There are a few minor imperfections, mainly on the lower part of the right front door, beneath the lower right corner of the windshield, and in a few other spots—see photos. The underside is in fine condition.

  • General condition:

A Jaguar in excellent condition. It’s rare to see such a well-executed restoration. Road-ready.
