"An almost 50-year-old Saab in original condition that runs well and is ready to drive. There is nothing to complain about—the condition is impeccable."

Description

The car was purchased new from Saab-Hasses Bil in Kristianstad on March 26, 1976, by its first owner, who lived in Kristianstad. At the time, it cost 25,500 SEK including VAT. The owner was very careful with the car and used it sparingly over 21 years. The next owner was a Saab enthusiast who kept the car as a cherished vehicle for 13 years before Förlags AB Albinsson & Sjöberg purchased it in 2010 for their fine museum at their headquarters in Karlskrona.

The Saab is completely untouched, with original paint in perfect condition. It has never been worn or damaged—only gently cared for. During the 21 years it was regularly used, it mostly traveled between the owner’s home in Näsby and their summer house in Yngsjö on fine weather days. Since then, it has been a collector’s car.

The car has been taken out of the museum a few times for various fairs and exhibitions, where it has received well-deserved attention.

Facts about the model

Saab originated from the engineering collective at the aircraft manufacturer in Linköping, led by Sixten Sason in the 1940s. The prototype of the Saab 92 (92001, the “Ur-Saab”) was presented to the company management in Linköping on June 4, 1946, with series production starting on December 12, 1949. It produced 25 hp at 3,800 rpm. The Saab 96 was manufactured between 1960 and 1980. Before the introduction of the V4 engine—originally from Ford—which began appearing in the 96 from 1967 onwards, the cars were equipped with a three-cylinder two-stroke engine.
