"At first glance, it looks like an early Amazon Estate with the stylish older front end that many enthusiasts prefer. In fact, it’s an upgraded and at the same time visually retrograded 1968 estate wagon. With the older appearance and the later technology including disc brakes, lap belts, headrests, and B20 engine. Fully ready to drive."

Description

Here, a renovation has been undertaken with a personal interpretation and vision of a sporty Amazon estate, simultaneously exuding understated classicism and sober elegance. The renovation was initiated by the previous owner in the early 2010s. The current owner has had the car since 2015 and continued the renovation along the same path with personal interpretation and meticulousness. The owner now allows the Amazon to move on to the next enthusiast since he doesn’t have time to drive it.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The engine has been upgraded to a B20 equipped with a D-cam and twin carburetors, along with a sports exhaust system. It starts and runs without any issues. The gearbox is a four-speed model M40. Equipped with a dual-circuit power-assisted braking system of a later model for improved safety.

  • Interior condition

Here, almost everything is new from floor to ceiling. From newly manufactured floor mats in both the passenger and cargo areas to seat upholstery and door panels, all the way up to the headliner. Even the extra rubber mats are new, all purchased from reputable VP Autoparts. The steering wheel comes from a 123GT and is part of the sporty interpretation. Safety has also been considered, with the addition of both headrests and lap belts in the front. See the pictures for details.

  • Exterior condition

Expertly done paintwork was carried out approximately 10 years ago, and the paint is still in very good condition. There are a few minor stone chips at the front, but nothing major. The windshield, with a blue tint, was replaced in 2015. The bumpers and trim are in excellent condition. The front has been swapped for an earlier model, and an America bar has been mounted on the front bumper, along with older model rear lights, all in line with the owner’s vision of how an estate car should look. Everything is neatly executed. The wheels are wider than the original and from an earlier model. The doors need a final adjustment as the new rubber seals are slightly tighter in the door openings.

  • General condition

Renovated and nicely prepared with some personal touches. Ready to drive and exempt from inspection as a vintage car.
