"A true American supercar."

Description

The Viper was exported from sunny California to Sweden via Germany in 2005. Among the photos, you can view the “Carfax” which documents the car’s life in the USA. In Sweden, the car has had three owners, and during this time, it has traveled approximately 2,500 kilometers. The current owner purchased the car in 2009 and is the third owner in Sweden. Since the 2023 inspection, the car hasn’t been driven much and has been kept in a garage. Over the years, the owner has spent considerable time and money to bring it to its current standard. Among other things, the following have been addressed or installed: Berlingo headers, glass side windows instead of the original plastic ones, a three-part fiberglass roof instead of the original fabric one, a sound system with speakers, new leather seats, a new clutch, a new aluminum flywheel, new master and slave cylinders for the clutch, new injectors from Roe Racing, Haltec engine management system installed by PBZ in Uppsala, Axton supercharger with intercooler installed by Venomous Racing, new universal joints on the drive shafts and prop shaft, rear axle replacement, three-inch muffler, 200-cell catalytic converter, new front brake discs and new brake pads all around, refurbished rims painted in gray metallic, and a new battery. All original parts, including the original speedometer, are available and can be included if desired in their current condition.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The car runs well. The engine delivers 630 hp and 809 Nm at 5500 rpm with a compressor pressure of 0.5 Bar, see pictures. The compressor pressure is now at 1.2 Bar, so it delivers even more power now, and this is measured at the wheels. It has a six-speed gearbox. The car passed the Swedish vehicle inspection in 2023 without any remarks. The speedometer has been replaced, but the original meter is included with the car. There is a broken plastic piece at the lock mechanism on the driver’s door, see picture.

  • Interior condition:

The interior is in good condition with signs of use. The seats have been replaced with new leather-covered chairs, and the passenger seat has a small hole, see picture. The original seats are included with the car. The rubber door and roof sealing strips have some damage, see pictures.

  • Exterior condition:

The paint is in a used condition with a few small scratches and damages. There are also paint blisters in several places, including above the right front headlight on the hood.

  • General condition:

A tough car that could be enhanced with minimal effort. It’s ready to drive but requires an inspection by July 31, 2024.

Facts about the model

The Dodge Viper RT-10 is the first model of the Viper.
It all started in 1988 when Bob Lutz, the executive at Chrysler Group, recommended to designer Tom Gale from the same company to build a sports car that would resemble a modern AC Cobra. Carroll Shelby was also involved in the development of the Viper, using the AC Cobra and Shelby Cobra Daytona as inspiration. The car was first displayed in 1989 at the North American International Auto Show. At that time, it was just a concept car, but it became popular, and Chrysler’s chief engineer Roy Sjeoberg and Team Viper (which was a group of 85 engineers selected by Sjeoberg) were given permission to mass-produce the concept car. Lee Iacocca approved production in 1990, and the first generation of cars was released in 1992. Team Viper’s goal was to create a car with significantly higher performance than any other sports car at that time. Chrysler Group had two purposes in building the Viper; the first was to demonstrate that they were still the best at building affordable vehicles of any type. The Viper was also a production technology test to see if they could develop new methods for manufacturing and assembly to lower the cost of vehicle production. The vehicle was initially intended to be completely replaced by another sports car in 1997 but was instead replaced by a new model of the Dodge Viper.
