"A legendary collector’s model in fine condition."

Description

The Ducati 916 SPS is a legendary sport motorcycle that combines technical brilliance with Italian design. SPS stands for “Sport Production Special,” and the model was a further development of the already acclaimed 916 series, built for Superbike homologation. It was a powerful weapon in the hands of riders like Carl Fogarty, who secured multiple world championships for Ducati.

This particular Ducati, sold new in Sweden, has had only four owners (including the dealer). The current owner has kept the bike in his living room as a work of art. It has seldom been ridden on the road—perhaps a total of around 500 km during the current owner’s tenure. The motorcycle is fully serviced, with new timing belts and valve adjustments. All fluids have been replaced. Its pristine condition reflects its minimal use.

According to its identification plate, this example is number 017 of the 404 Ducati 916 SPS units produced in 1997. It was professionally repainted by the previous owner. The bike passed its inspection in summer 2024 with no remarks. It’s turn-key ready—perfect for the road or as a showcase piece in your garage or living room. Included is an extra Termignoni carbon-fiber silencer.

Facts about the model

When Ducati unveiled Massimo Tamburini’s design for the new 916, the whole world gasped. Never before had anyone seen such daring lines, and the machine proved virtually unbeatable as a racing model. It was also the world’s first mass-produced motorcycle with adjustable steering rake and trail—and it even featured an additional eccentric for even greater fine-tuning. This model became the foundation for all of the factory’s successful race bikes and immediately achieved cult status. Designed by Massimo Tamburini, the 916 (and its SPS variants) is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful motorcycles ever made. Its minimalist tail section, aggressive front end, and twin under-seat exhaust pipes give the bike a uniquely iconic expression.
