"A unique and enjoyable model in an unusual style."

Description

The current owner discovered this A30 parked in a barn at a friend's place, who had owned the car for over 40 years. Upon learning that Austin had produced only three convertibles in 1955, he saw it as an exciting challenge to undertake such a project. After bringing the car home, the project began to convert it into a roofless summer vehicle. The entire car was thoroughly inspected, and any necessary repairs were carried out. The car was equipped with features such as an alternator, electronic ignition, new cables, relays, and fuses, as well as a hydraulic braking system from Morris on the rear wheels instead of the mechanical one. It also received a blue canvas convertible top and new tires. The car has passed inspections by SFRO (Swedish Federation of Vintage Vehicles), registration inspection, and safety inspection. Since its completion, the owner has used the car for various car events where it has been well-received and appreciated.

Facts about the model

The Austin A30 was produced between 1951 and 1956. It continued its production with slight modernization as the A35 until 1968. When customer deliveries began in May 1952, it was Austin's first car with a monocoque body. The two-door version was introduced the following year, and a few years later, the estate (station wagon) variant was added to the lineup.

The A30 was the first vehicle to feature BMC's four-cylinder A-series engine with a displacement of 803 cubic centimeters, which would go on to be produced for nearly 50 years. A total of 222,823 A30s were manufactured.
