Description

This car was imported from the USA, where it was first registered on June 1, 1975. In Sweden, it was registered for road use on October 19, 2008. The first user and current owner in Sweden acquired the car on May 15, 2009. A motoring enthusiast, owning a Corvette had been a childhood dream. Since then, he has driven the car carefully, only during the lighter months of the year, and otherwise kept it in a garage. Over these years, it has covered about 15,000 km. The current odometer reading is approximately 85,690 km. Whether this is accurate or if the odometer has rolled over is uncertain, but when the car was imported to Sweden it was presented as a “low-mileage” example. There is reason to believe this may be true, though no guarantees can be made. The current owner has taken good care of the car, servicing and maintaining it, and ownership has been largely trouble-free. Everything works, including the original alarm, which is turned on/off with a key at the Stingray emblem on the driver’s side. The radio unit has been replaced, but the original is included. The car is inspected, taxed, and ready to drive.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

A 350 engine that starts easily and runs as expected. During a test drive on a small country road, everything appeared to function well – good power, light steering, and a reliable automatic gearbox with a working kickdown. Brakes, handling, and other systems are in good condition. Not inspected on a lift, but what could be seen looked good, and no remarks have been made during inspections.

  • Interior condition:

Well-preserved interior, seemingly in original condition. Light wear consistent with gentle use, with good seat comfort. Door panels, trim, and carpets are in good condition, with additional protective mats. Steering wheel, controls, dashboard, and gauges are all in good shape. Everything appears to function, including the alarm and electric antenna. The miles odometer has kilometre indications marked with tape.

  • Exterior condition:

Nice, glossy paintwork with light wear from use. There is a slight colour difference on the “nose cone.” Glass, chrome, trim, emblems, and lighting details are in good condition. The pop-up headlight function works properly. Wheels are in excellent condition with fine chrome and good tyres. The engine bay is tidy. The soft top is in good condition and easy to operate.

  • General condition:

The Corvette Stingray has long been a symbol and an essential ingredient of the American Dream. This example is a pleasure to drive and is in very nice condition. The solid 350 engine with automatic transmission is an icon in its own right. With its wonderful period colour, this car has now passed the half-century mark and stands as both a historically significant classic and a highly desirable enthusiast and collector’s vehicle.

Facts about the model

The Corvette C3 was introduced in 1968, built on the same chassis as its predecessor. Chief designer Bill Mitchell drew inspiration from the marine world and named the model Stingray. This generation of Chevrolet’s sporty Corvette became a true bestseller. For the 1973 model year, a new front with a soft plastic bumper was introduced, and the following year the rear end was also redesigned. 1974 was also the final year for the Big Block engine. In 1975, the catalytic converter was introduced, and the convertible version was discontinued. The Corvette C3 remained in production until 1982.
