Description

Sold new with European specifications—orange indicators and metric gauges—in the Östersund area, and first registered in 1981. Well-equipped with power windows, power-adjustable seats, tilt steering wheel, cruise control, and an extra gauge package, among other features. And, of course, the 5.7-liter 350” diesel engine, which was still quite uncommon at that time, both in the USA and Sweden. It has only passed through seven owners, including dealers, over the years.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

A well-equipped car where everything from the gauges to the mechanics functions satisfactorily. In the engine bay, the kilometer counter is still present—an apparatus used to calculate the tax based on kilometers driven in diesel cars, a practice that was discontinued in 1994. Otherwise, the engine bay looks very original and untouched. The car has recently received a new master brake cylinder.

  • Interior condition:

The interior is very well-preserved and in excellent condition, featuring cozy and inviting plush upholstery. The carpets and other interior elements are of good quality. The headliner has been repaired and re-glued at some point, resulting in a somewhat unusual appearance, but it remains undamaged. The trunk is also in great condition, with a neat original rubber mat.

  • Exterior condition:

The car is straight and clean in both bodywork, trim, and bumpers. Even the usually delicate rubber details are intact. It has been partially repainted at some point, and there are a few minor imperfections. Some rust in the corners of the doors was addressed previously but should be redone to improve the finish. No rust has been detected in the wheel arches or elsewhere. There are a few spots of surface rust on the rear bumper. A new emblem for the trunk lid is included.

  • General condition:

Cars from GM’s “downsizing” generation were produced in large numbers. Millions of these Oldsmobiles, Chevrolets, Buicks, and Pontiacs were made over 13 years. Today, well-preserved examples—especially those originally sold in Sweden—are hard to find. Here, however, is one in excellent, nearly untouched original condition.
