Well-used and well-preserved with many reliable highway miles behind it, just as an older touring BMW should have experienced over the years.

"A pleasant representative of the model with a long and fine history with one owner since the late eighties."

Description

It was first registered in Sweden in the middle of winter, in February 1974. One can assume that the first owner took the bike out for its first miles that spring. The current owner bought his BMW R90 already in 1987 – also in the middle of winter in February – and has therefore owned the bike for 37 years. He rode the most during the early years; later, due to overseas jobs and family, the bike rested for long periods but was still started and ridden occasionally. Back in 1987, it had 62,000 km on the clock, and today the odometer reads 104,510 km. Just over 40,000 km spread over 37 years doesn’t amount to many kilometers per year, but the owner and the R90 saw a lot of Europe during the early years. If nothing else, all the decals on the saddlebags tell that story. The most recent and final approved inspection was done on 2017-05-06.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Chugs along reliably as a BMW boxer does, distinct and steady. It has recently received a comprehensive service and inspection; carburetors and valves adjusted, new mufflers, and oil service. Comes with a complete original tool kit and air pump.

  • Interior condition:

During the latest inspection, the bike received a new saddle, which is nice with good firmness and neat stitching.

  • Exterior condition:

The current owner rode the first season without a fairing. The following year, 1988, he rode the bike by himself to the place where Gläser manufactured their well-known aftermarket fairings. He left the bike there for a day and had everything installed and ready. The next day, he started a long trip to England and back home. Since then, the fairing has been in place during all travels and has been well cared for, just like the rest of the bike. The rims and fenders are clean, undamaged, and shiny. The tank has a nice paint job with just the right amount of attractive wear at the rider’s knee position.

  • General condition:

A clear and fine representative of BMW’s traditional boxer touring bikes with its Gläser fairing and bag holders. Additionally, it’s somewhat rarer, as the 900cc model was only manufactured for three years.
