"A super cool-looking car that’s the result of many years of hard work and investment. It has attended numerous local car events like A-Bombers, Power Meet, and Wings and Wheels—and has even towed a vintage caravan."

Description

This 1940 Dodge Coupe was originally imported to Sweden in 2003 and has only had three owners since. It was fully registered in 2008 after the second owner made it roadworthy, and the current owner has had it since 2014. Over the years, he has put a lot of time and effort into the car.

It has a rear seat, making it practical for four passengers. The body is in excellent condition, including the underside. All holes for trim and similar have been welded and thoroughly rust-proofed from the inside. The car has been repainted in BMW anthracite grey metallic with a matte clear coat, and all parts were painted separately—photos are available.

The car is lowered and sits on sandblasted and painted steel wheels with whitewall diagonal tires and spider caps. A removable tow bar, approved for 1,500 kg, has been fitted. The interior has been completely redone, including headliner, panels, and both front and rear seats. It also features an electric fuel pump.

Mechanically, it retains its original flathead straight-six engine and 3-speed manual gearbox with a column shifter. Aside from the lowered stance, the chassis, brakes, and steering are original. It’s a full steel-bodied car—no fiberglass—built properly and with care.

This is a car that can be enjoyed as it is, but it also offers a solid base for further development. It would be an ideal starting point for a restomod with a modern powertrain and upgraded steering, brakes, and suspension. Hot rod enthusiasts know what a car like this represents—building one takes serious time and money, and this one is already well on its way.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The car starts right up, and the engine runs and sounds good. The gearbox shifts as it should. There’s some play in the steering box, and the front right brake pulls a bit—probably just needs adjustment, as this was the first time it was driven this year. It has nice wheels with good tires and a custom detachable tow bar that's neatly hidden when not in use.

A larger fuel tank has been fitted, and the engine and drivetrain have been looked after by the current owner, who’s driven the car regularly during the summers. There's no traditional speedometer, but a GPS-based digital unit is included. New door seals also come with the car (see pictures).

  • Interior condition:

Interior was fully renovated, seat, healdiner, dorr card and rubber flooring a few year ago and still remain in a good condition super comfortable seat with bags of room for passenger. Simple small fixes needed to align side panels and lower part of the headliner under the rear window.

  • Exterior condition:

Bodywork looks great with no dents, damage, or visible rust. It includes several custom touches, particularly the built-in rear bumper, front end, and grille, which give it a clean and sleek look. The running boards are covered in rubber for added practicality. A small welding repair has been done on the lower panel on the driver’s side, between the running board and body panel. The underbody is solid and clean, with no rust issues.

The paintwork really stands out—whether in sunlight or shade, it has a great finish. There’s only a small paint chip on the rear right wing. The door handles have been deleted for a cleaner look, so the doors currently open only from the inside. The plan was to install electric door catches to make it more practical, and that could still be done by the next owner

  • General condition:

A cool and unique-looking car that can be enjoyed with family or friends this summer, while also offering plenty of potential for anyone looking to take it further along the hot rod path.
