"En välhållen Herald i ett fint representativt och användbart skick, körklar och besiktningsbefriad."

Beschreibung

The owner's first car in 1968 was a white 1965 Triumph Herald with a red interior. This car was used extensively during the time of ownership. The Herald was also used for two trips to England. The car served well as a family vehicle, but after about 10 years, the owner took over his father's car and subsequently sold the Herald. He was very impressed with this small, practical, and typically British car. The nostalgia for it was strong.

About ten years ago, the owner began searching for another Herald for nostalgic reasons. He found this one in Gävle about seven years ago. The car appears to be in an unmodified condition, with a service history and few owners who took care of it. The current owner has used the car for day trips of varying lengths. The clutch master cylinder has been replaced, and seatbelts have been installed. The owner has personally performed routine maintenance on the car. A binder with articles and history, along with a workshop manual, is included.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

Runs well in the engine and drivetrain. Starts easily and sounds good. No unusual noises like rattles or squeaks. The brakes engage smoothly and evenly.

  • Zustand Interieur:

The interior is in good condition. There are small holes on the backrest of the passenger seat and on the left door panel. The veneer on the instrument panel has cracks, mainly on the passenger side.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

The paint is in good condition with signs of use, primarily around the hood lock and sills. The door fit on the left side is not optimal, and there's a small dent at the bottom of the door, as shown in the pictures.

  • Zustand gesamt:

A very pleasant and ready-to-drive Herald in good and well-maintained condition.

Fakten zum Modell

Triumph Herald was produced between 1959 and 1971.

Standard-Triumph had started working on a successor to the Standard Eight in the late 1950s. The new car inherited the powertrain from its predecessor but was otherwise completely new. They chose to build the car on a separate chassis at a time when most had switched to unitary construction. The advantage of the separate chassis was that it allowed for a variety of body styles. They enlisted Giovanni Michelotti for the design. The chassis was relatively advanced, featuring independent suspension all around. Due to cost constraints, a simple swing axle was used at the rear, making the car oversteer in tight situations.

The company was in the process of phasing out the Standard brand, and the new car became a Triumph. In the spring of 1959, the new Herald was introduced. The car was initially available as a sedan and coupe, but eventually, convertible and estate body styles were added. There was also a Herald S version with a twin-carburetor engine. Many found the original one-liter engine too weak, and in 1961, the Herald 1200 with a larger engine was introduced. From 1963, the Herald 12/50 with twin carburetors was available.

The final development was the Herald 13/60 introduced in 1967. This new model had a new front end, in line with the six-cylinder Vitesse, and a modified interior. The production of various Herald models amounted to 515,189 units.
