"A BSA Goldstar in fantastic condition, restored and built to deliver drivability and performance beyond the ordinary for the model. The bike has taken many first prizes at shows in Sweden."

Beschreibung

The well-known and skilled motorcycle enthusiast Tore Nilsson of Hjärsås purchased this BSA in 1989 and then began a restoration. The engine was rebuilt by Stig Motormekaniska in Axvall, and Tore carried out the rest of the restoration himself. Much has been done for maximum performance, including replacing the drive chain with a belt, fitting a modified Mikuni carburetor, and raising the compression through boring. Tore has ridden approximately 2,000 km with the bike since its completion, with very good results. He has also taken part in several shows, where he has brought home many awards for his machine. On one occasion, when the machine was on display at Elmia, the famous racers Bill Nilsson and Sten "Storken" Lundin were also exhibitors and met Tore. The result was that they signed their autographs on the tank of this unique motorcycle.

Fakten zum Modell

The BSA Gold Star is one of the most famous British sports motorcycles of the postwar era. It was manufactured by the Birmingham Small Arms Company and became particularly admired for its powerful single-cylinder engine, low weight, and success in competitive motorsport.
History
- 1938: The Gold Star name was introduced after a BSA rider achieved a speed of over 100 mph (approximately 161 km/h) at the Brooklands circuit and was awarded a gold star.
- 1940s: After World War II, production resumed and the Gold Star evolved into a purebred sports and racing motorcycle.
- 1950s: The model reached its golden age. It was used in road racing, hill climbs, and motocross, and became known for its excellent performance.
- 1963: Production ceased, at a time when British motorcycle manufacturers faced ever-increasing competition from modern Japanese motorcycles.
