Zustand technisch
Starts easily and runs well in engine and drivetrain. During the test drive, everything such as steering, clutch, shifting, and brakes was found to be functioning well. The undercarriage has been inspected on a lift and looks good. As is always the case with a 50-year-old vehicle, there are details to be reviewed.

Zustand Interieur
Largely in original condition with signs of wear. The chairs and the fragile 'nylon upholstery' of the back seat have started to give way after 50 years, which is why matching form-fitted upholstery has been installed. Door sides, headliner, carpets, dashboard, and instruments are all in original condition. Everything appears to function well. Retractable seat belts were installed many years ago.

Zustand Exterieur
Large parts of the paint are still original and in good condition. Front fender replacements and front repairs have been performed, with minor repairs that are visible. Glass, shiny, and rubber details are in good condition with signs of wear. The shiny plastic window trims at the front and back have lost their chrome finish - new ones can be purchased. The lower aluminum corners of the rear window are included and are in good condition. Good rims and fine hubcaps, along with newer tires. Engine and luggage compartments are in fine original condition with signs of wear.

Zustand gesamt
The model was a relatively rare sight on our streets back in the day, and today, it's even rarer. In this condition, with its history and original feel, it's almost a unique phenomenon and a piece of Swedish automotive and usage history. A delightful classic and nostalgic experience.

Fakten zum Modell
The model was introduced for the 1970 model year in two versions: L and TL, the latter being slightly more upscale, with features such as separate front seats, armrests, additional lighting details, and a heated rear window. A station wagon (Break) was also introduced in 1970. For the 1972 model year, a TS version with twin Weber carburetors, providing 60 hp, was introduced. The following year, this model could be equipped with an automatic transmission, known as the TR.
The high-performance model, bearing the additional name Gordini, was produced between 1970 and 1975. Here, Renault developed the larger 1565cc engine from the R16 TS, delivering 113 hp. In addition to the classic Gordini blue color with white stripes, this version featured disc brakes all around with ventilated discs at the front.
The R12 was updated in 1975 with a Phase II version featuring a new front end, new bumpers, larger taillights, new instrumentation, etc. By 1980, production ended in France and Western Europe as the Renault 18 was on its way.
From the beginning, licensed vehicles were manufactured in Romania, known as the Dacia 1300. Production also took place in Argentina and Turkey. The last R12 rolled off the production line in Turkey as late as 1999. According to reports, a total of 2.8 million R12s were produced worldwide, excluding the Dacia cars. Production of the model in Dacia continued from 1969 to 2006. Renault had assembly operations in several other countries worldwide, such as Australia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Portugal, Spain, etc., earning it the epithet "World Car."
