Beschreibung
The first owner opted for a Deluxe model with an automatic transmission. The Deluxe featured a more luxurious interior with textile carpets and a clock. The chosen color was Paint Code 110, Cypress Green, with interior code 778-787, indicating black vinyl on the door sides and brown textile upholstery, complemented by matching textile carpets.
Over the years, the car has only driven 16,529 kilometers. Reportedly, it was primarily used in Norrland and often stored during the winter. It was repainted over 20 years ago.
Included are the owner's manual, new mudguards, and some small parts.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

Zustand technisch
Starts easily and runs well in the engine and drivetrain. The automatic transmission shifts as it should, and both steering and brakes are functioning properly. It hasn't been checked on a lift, but from what could be inspected, everything looked good.
-
Zustand Interieur
The original interior is in good condition with firmness in the seats and backseat, although there is a small damage to the right side of the rear seat cushion's textile. The vinyl on the door sides is also in fine condition. Likewise, the carpets and headliner are well-maintained. Instruments, steering wheel, controls, and the "wood" details are all in good condition. The glove compartment lock/opening mechanism is somewhat unreliable. All gauges, controls, and electrical systems appear to function well.
-
Zustand Exterieur
The paintwork has a fine depth and luster, though there are some stone chips and scratches. The glass and other details are in good condition, glossy and clear. There are minor scratches on the trim and yellowing of the plastic in the license plate light fixture, as well as faded color on the emblem. The wheels are in good condition with some scuffing, and the Hankook tires are in good shape. Both the engine and trunk compartments are in fine condition, with no rust on the pans.

Half a century ago, the model 140 was a common sight on our roads. High production numbers mean that many fine examples are still rolling today. This is a testament to Volvo's functionality, safety, and quality aligning with the motto: "Volvo's value lasts." This car is one of those enduring models. Moreover, it offers a substantial dose of nostalgia from the era of technology and the "folkhem," when anything seemed possible. This is a fine and dignified enthusiast vehicle and classic from that time.

Fakten zum Modell
Known internally as Project P660, the groundwork was laid for this new Volvo, which was to be the successor to the Amazon. It was introduced on August 17, 1966, simultaneously in Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Oslo, and Helsinki—perhaps teasing Stockholm by choosing the capitals of Sweden's Nordic neighbors and Gothenburg for this honor.
Production started immediately, just two days later. The car quickly became a favorite and was named Sweden's Car of the Year in the same year. Initially, it was the four-door Model 144 that was manufactured. In the summer of 1967, for the 1968 model year, a two-door version, the 142, and in November of the same year, a five-door version, the 145, were released. Various updates were made over the years.
The Volvo 140 was a mid-size car that quickly created its own category—the "Volvo class." With the 144 model, Volvo took another step forward in leading safety developments within the automotive industry. They introduced a dual-circuit braking system, disc brakes on all wheels, a divided and collapsible steering column, laminated windscreen, strong box-type frames, and a protective steel cage around the passenger compartment. Additionally, safety locks, a spring-loaded rearview mirror, three-point seat belts with new attachments, and headrests designed to reduce whiplash injuries were standard features.
Each year saw further safety developments and the introduction of various models and engines. The B20 engine was introduced in 1969. In 1970, headrests and hazard warning lights became standard. In 1971, three equipment levels—Luxe, De Luxe, and Grand Luxe—were introduced, with the GL featuring a fuel-injected engine (Bosch D-Jetronic) and a slightly increased wheelbase. In 1972, roll belts for the front seats and recessed door handles were introduced. By 1973, a new instrument panel and steering wheel were introduced. Finally, in 1974, thicker safety bumpers were added. Besides these upgrades, numerous improvements were made over the years, and with the 1975 model year, even greater changes occurred as the model evolved into the 240 series, which is a story in itself.
