Beschreibung
It is now being sold by the estate of the owner who purchased it in 1995. At that time he carried out a full restoration—repainting the body and fitting new upholstery in the cabin. In celebration of Cadillac’s 100th anniversary, the car was exhibited at the Elmia Fair during Easter 2002. Its owner was regularly contracted as a wedding chauffeur with this Cadillac. Every detail of the work carried out on the car was meticulously documented, and he also conducted extensive research into its history. All of this material is preserved in a series of binders that will accompany the car upon purchase.
The paintwork still retains its shine today, though it may be possible to adjust the doors and trunk lid, as the body seams are slightly uneven. After 30 years the paint has picked up a few minor scratches. At the time of inspection, the car was roadworthy and operated as it should; however, having stood idle for three years, a basic mechanical check-over is advisable to ensure reliability. The owner has placed fabric pads beneath the car to absorb any drips, and addressing the source of these leaks would be a sensible first step.
Included in the sale—besides the comprehensive documentation—are tools such as a jack and a selection of spare parts.
For almost 90 years this Cadillac has been the pride of its owners, and it will continue to be so when it passes into the hands of someone new, who can preserve its history and make the roads a little more beautiful with a 1937 Cadillac Series 65.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand
-
Zustand technisch
It underwent a full restoration in the mid-1990s and was driven until 2022, when the owner could no longer use it due to declining health. It’s equipped with a modern electric fuel pump. The engine runs smoothly and offers good throttle response. The gears engage easily, and—given the car’s age—the shift positions are straightforward to find. When topping up the coolant, the owner tied a piece of cloth to the filler; after a short test drive there were traces of coolant on the ground, possibly due to a leak or an overfilled system. The brakes pull evenly and perform as expected for a 1937 car, and the exhaust system appeared to function well during testing. The horn, headlights, turn signals, and brake lights all worked at the time of inspection, as did the instruments and their illumination. The heating/fan system and windshield wipers have not been tested. Two sets of keys are included, and all locks function. The windows and vent panes open and close as they should.

Zustand Interieur
The interior is in good condition following the car’s full restoration, during which it received new upholstery, headliner, and carpets. The upholstery and rubber door seals have held up well since then. The steel dashboard shows only minor surface-rust spots. The trunk is lined with more modern materials and is completely clean and intact, though it’s likely somewhat modernized compared to its original appearance.
-
Zustand Exterieur
Professionally repainted during the full restoration in the 1990s, and the finish remains in excellent condition today. The chassis was also painted at that time and is still in very good shape. Around the rear axle and gearbox, the owner affixed cloth pads to catch any oil drips, as it was important to him that the car not leak during ceremonial drives, such as weddings. The right front fender shows evidence of a minor parking ding, and there are a few other small scratches on the bodywork, including some paint wear around the door handles. The gaps around the doors and trunk lid are slightly uneven. The glass and their rubber seals are in good condition. Body moldings, door handles, and bumpers are all in good order, with the exception of one molding on the right front fender. The steel-rimmed wheels with chrome hubcaps present very nicely, and the bias-ply tires appear to be in good condition.
