Zustand technisch
Starts easily and runs okay in engine and drivetrain. Somewhat jerky operation before it warms up. There are noises from the front suspension, likely due to the brakes dragging and needing an inspection. Otherwise, the brakes work well, as do the steering, clutch, and gear shifting. Overall, it is functional but needs a thorough inspection and attention to details to get everything in harmony. It has not been checked on a lift, but the visible vital parts seemed okay. The vehicle inspection has not noted any issues underneath. Surface rust is visible on the body edges, etc. The engine and trunk compartments are in original condition with signs of use.
-
Zustand Interieur
The interior is original and in a patinated used condition. The seats and rear bench are in good shape and retain their firmness. The steering wheel, controls, and instruments are in good condition, with most functions working, but the hazard lights and windshield washer need to be checked and fixed. The headliner has color variations at the lower edges.
-
Zustand Exterieur
Recent paint job that is glossy and nice, but the underlying work is uncertain, and there are likely repairs around some wheel arches and insufficient paint on the lower edges. The glass, chrome, and rubber details are in good condition with normal wear and tear. There are small dents on the bumpers. The wheels show signs of use, and the hubcaps are newer (from an Ascona). The original hubcaps and trim rings (for three wheels) are damaged. It has nice Cibie fog lights, but they are not connected.

Zustand gesamt
A car from the Kadett’s heyday. These were a common sight on our roads, but now they are endangered. This particular vehicle led a quiet life in Värmland, which is why it has survived. It is now drivable and in decent condition but needs some attention to details. The level of restoration desired is up to the new owner. Regardless of the choice, this is a practical and reliable classic and enthusiast car.

Fakten zum Modell
After the war, Opel continued to manufacture cars in West Germany, and the business slowly but surely recovered. However, they no longer had a small car like the Kadett to offer. As demand for small, economical cars increased in the late 1950s and early 1960s, Opel reintroduced the charming little Kadett in 1962, called the A model. This version featured a new design with a conventional structure, a boxy form, a two-door body, a four-cylinder 1000 cc engine, and rear-wheel drive. It was a simple but practical small family car, and soon, a station wagon called Caravan and a Coupé were added to the lineup.
For the 1966 model year, the new B model was introduced. It was based on the same technology but was larger in every dimension. The Kadett once again became a bestseller, and Opel churned out various versions ranging from the simplest model to more luxurious ones with more equipment such as chrome, vinyl roofs, and more upscale interiors, called Olympia. Opel also tapped into the growing GT trend with the Rally-Kadett Coupé and Sport Sedan. The Rally Kadett Sprint offered a tuned 1900 cc engine from the Rekord, producing 106 hp DIN. A Super model from 1970 with an 1100 cc engine had a single carburetor and produced 55 hp. Models with the Super designation had more equipment, including trim rings and a more luxurious interior.
In 1973, it was time for a new model again, the C model, followed by the D model in 1979, and finally, the Kadett E from 1984 to 1993. After that, the model name Astra took over the mantle.
