The most recent owner, who unfortunately passed away, purchased this car in June 2019. It was his dream car, and he cared for it meticulously—meaning it’s been very well-maintained, with the intention of keeping it long-term. Originally imported from the USA as a Salvage title, it was registered in Sweden in 2014. Considerable funds have been invested in the car, and it comes with a stack of high-value receipts for all the work carried out. Mileage is 67102 miles thats approx 107,000 km.
In autumn 2022, the engine was sent to Overboostracing in Arboga, where the cylinders were rebored and fitted with new liners. This step was taken because the engine was consuming oil, and troubleshooting revealed oval cylinders, necessitating an overhaul.
The rebuilt engine was reinstalled in spring 2023, and the car has covered 3,800 kilometers (380 “Swedish mil”) since then. The engine runs smoothly, and the car remains lively; however, it continues to consume oil.
Error codes P0420 and P0420P recur, indicating “Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1),” which points to a malfunctioning right-side catalytic converter. This issue stems from the ongoing oil consumption, as it leads to excessively rich exhaust fumes that clog the catalytic converters. The car starts easily and runs without any warning lights, but it does emit black smoke under hard acceleration. This issue appears to stem from oil leaking into the valves, which will need to be investigated and repaired. All electronic features—including the seats, windows, mirrors, roof, radio, and touch screen—work correctly. The air conditioning has not been fully tested due to the winter conditions. Inspected valid until 2025-07-31.

Zustand Interieur
The interior features full black leather seats that are in excellent condition, aside from a small white mark on the rear seat (see photo). Overall, the interior is very clean and well-maintained, with no damage. The headliner is also clean, and there are no leaks from the roof. The car has recently been cleaned and detailed.

Zustand Exterieur
From the outside, the car makes a strong impression with no visible dents, damage, or rust on the body. The underbody is clean and tidy, and it appears a newer rear exhaust section has been installed. The paintwork is glossy, showing no flaws apart from two small paint chips on the driver’s door. The alloy wheels and tires are both in good condition, and the convertible roof is clean with no holes—only a few light rubbing marks in certain areas (see pictures).

Vi har ägnat betydande tid åt att diagnosticera problemet. Ett av de tydligaste tecknen visar sig när motorn är på normal arbetstemperatur och vi kör i cirka 90 km/h nerför en lång backe. Om vi släpper gaspedalen och låter motorn motorbromsa i ungefär 15–20 sekunder, och sedan gasar fullt, kan mörk eller svart rök observeras. Detta tyder starkt på att olja tar sig in i förbränningskamrarna – troligtvis via ventiltätningar eller ventilstyrningar.
PA Bilservice i Jönköping har filmat inuti motorn och bekräftat att olja kommer från ventilerna. De har också inspekterat vevhusventilationen och konstaterat att den är torr, vilket utesluter den som orsak. Vår huvudsakliga misstanke är därför defekta ventiltätningar eller ventilstyrningar.

Vi rekommenderar att PA Bilservice kontaktas, eftersom de har filmat inuti motorn. Det skulle vara värdefullt att få tillgång till det materialet för vidare analys.
Samtal med Tommy Luhr på Overboostracing i Arvika
Under ett ingående samtal med Tommy diskuterades våra felsökningsresultat, och han tror också att problemet pekar mot felande ventiltätningar. Han påpekar dock att bilen inte har körts mycket, vilket normalt skulle utesluta detta. Detta kan tyda på att motorn i bilen inte är originalmotorn och kan ha gått längre än vad som framgår. Det skulle förklara både slitage på cylindrar och läckande ventiltätningar.
Det är värt att ifrågasätta motorns originalitet, eftersom ventiltätningar vanligtvis inte går sönder förrän mycket senare i en motors livslängd. Med tanke på den omfattande renovering som redan har gjorts på motorn, är det ändå viktigt att undersöka om ventiltätningarna behöver bytas. Om det visar sig vara fallet, kommer bilen att få en fantastisk motor i ett fantastiskt chassi.
Fakten zum Modell
The second generation of the XK premiered in 2005 at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany, featuring a design by Jaguar’s chief designer, Ian Callum. In 2007, a more powerful XKR variant was introduced, featuring a supercharged version of the engine. The standard XK has an electronically limited top speed of 254 km/h (158 mph), while the high-performance XKR can reach a limited top speed of 280 km/h (174 mph).

- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
