Beschreibung

It was registered for road use in Sweden and delivered by Volvo dealer Bildeve in Helsingborg to its first owner in November 1982. Over the years, the car has had many enthusiastic owners, and despite the mileage, it has likely been a collector’s item for many along the ownership chain. In the past 15 years, it has covered less than 10,000 kilometers, with the majority of its total mileage attributed to the first owners during the 1980s and 1990s. The most recent approved inspection was on 2025-05-16.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

The car has recently undergone a major service, including a timing belt replacement, a new stamp in the service book, and a neat little date label on the belt cover. The climate control system blows cold and works efficiently—the owner initially searched for a replacement unit in the U.S., but by chance came across a brand-new original compressor still in its box on Tradera. As a result, the entire system was refurbished and recharged by ER Bilkyl in Falkenberg.

  • Zustand Interieur:

The leather upholstery is invitingly fresh and well-kept, with good carpets and headliner. The rear parcel shelf shows some sort of discoloration or corrosion damage—it's unclear what caused it. The owner has installed a cool period-correct original Volvo Component Stereo, but the hidden amplifier component is missing, meaning the sound system currently doesn't function. However, if you're not too concerned about what's out of sight, it's easy to find a more modern unit that works well alongside the vintage components, which have been tested and are fully functional on their own.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

Reportedly repainted sometime around 10–15 years ago, the car still looks sharp and presentable today with normal signs of wear. It rides on original wheels with a few minor marks up front and is fitted with Michelin Energy tires from 2009, which still have good tread.

  • Zustand gesamt:

A charming high-mileage cruiser in a stylish and well-preserved original condition, enthusiastically cared for by its owners after its initial years of active daily service.

Fakten zum Modell

The Turbo version was the most expensive performance model of Volvo’s family car, the 240. It was launched in 1980, with the first cars sold as model year 1981. The 245 Turbo followed a year later. However, these cars were only available in select markets, and none were initially delivered to Sweden. The first 245 Turbos sold in Sweden were model year 1984. The final year for the Turbo was 1985, when it was offered exclusively as a wagon.

In addition to the engine, there were a number of specific features. On the exterior, the differences from the GLT were mostly limited to the distinctive Virgo wheels and Turbo badging. Inside, the differences were more noticeable, with plush upholstery and a speedometer calibrated to 220 km/h. The steering wheel was unique, as was the leather gaiter around the gear lever. The sedan version also featured a black headliner.

Under the hood sat the B21ET engine with a turbo from American manufacturer Garrett. With 155 hp, the 240 Turbo could accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9 seconds. However, few cars today still run the original oil-cooled turbo, as most were replaced with water-cooled versions when they failed. An intercooler was never fitted from the factory, but one could be purchased through Volvo R-Sport. With an intercooler installed, the engine output increased to 170 hp.
