VW 181 – Kurierwagen, The Thing, VW Safari, Kübelwagen, known under many names - is a lovely example of German ascetic functionality. One of few survivors from the German civil defense of 200 specially ordered "VW 181 ABC-Erkundungswagen" in original condition.
After a very quiet garage life as an ABC tracking and commander-in-chief car in the small German community of Schwelm civil defense organization, the car was sold in year 2000 and exported to Sweden where it ended up at a Volkswagen collector.
This is a dream car to any aircooled VW enthusiast who gets off on emergency vehicles and/or official government cars, but maybe who's also in search of a summer bug for beach related adventures. Or any other sunny aircooled adventures. Colour, equipment and attitude, everything is right. Being a mix of German civil defense car with a Cold War status and a straight orange open enthusiast bug is as cool as it gets.

Pigg, trygg och enkel. Motor och låda lirar ihop på bästa bubbla-vis. Den som kan sin 181:a vet alla möjligheter till frisk luft i olika steg med suffletten nedfälld, nedälld framruta och med några enkla handgrepp; bortmonterade dörrar.

Zustand Interieur
En interiör som är omöjlig att värja sig mot; de vinylklädda och spartanska framstolarna, de Kalifornien-flörtande träribborna på golvet, fällbara säten bak och i övrigt hela den avskalade charmen som är tydligt och klart närvarande med en knallorange touch.

Zustand Exterieur
Efter ett väl omhändertaget liv inom tyska civilförsvaret, men ändå med lite användingsspår, finns det några små lackbättringar exteriört. Dessa adderar en posiitv historik till det i övrigt mycket fina skicket.

Zustand gesamt
En bil i ett härligt officiellt tyskt originalskick med massor av tillbehör. Eller kör den som glad öppen färgklick i sommarlandskapet. Den klarar av båda de uppgifterna med beröm godkänt.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
