It was delivered to its first owner in July 1987 and has had relatively few owners. The current owner purchased the car in 2017, and before that it was used from 1992 for nearly 25 years by the same owner in Simrishamn. He has consequently covered the most kilometers with the car. The current owner started an ambitious project, but now someone else can take over. The most recent passed inspection was carried out on 2010-06-18.

The engine has been removed and given an overhaul. It has not been started since. The B21ET engine was sold only in Sweden without an intercooler.

The interior is partially disassembled, with parts located inside the car and outside of it. However, all seats look fine, especially in relation to the mileage.

Recently repainted in its original color. Rust repairs have been carried out underneath, though according to the owner, a little more attention to detail would be desirable. A careful body filler job is needed. New tires and restored original wheels.

A project to complete and keep, a challenge for someone, or a straightforward job to pass along. The model's history in Sweden—and internationally—makes it in any case an interesting car to preserve. And even as an enthusiast's car, one cannot overlook the pleasant practicality and usefulness of a vintage station wagon.

Fakten zum Modell
When the Saab 900 Turbo became a great success, Volvo also felt compelled to develop a turbocharged version of its 240, despite already having a V6 engine with the same output. The turbo model in wagon form was naturally the most expensive performance version of Volvo's family car, the 245. The launch took place in the USA in 1980, and the first cars were sold as the 242 for the 1981 model year.
The following year, the 245 Turbo was launched as a 1982 model. This created an entirely new class of car combining a turbo with a wagon body – it became the world's first turbocharged station wagon. However, the cars were only offered in certain markets, and none were ever made for Sweden. The first 245 Turbos sold in Sweden were 1984 models. 1985 was the last model year for the Turbo, and in the final year only the wagon was sold.
Apart from the engine, a number of details were specific to the Turbo. On the outside, it was really only the wheels of Volvo's Virgo design and the badges that distinguished a Turbo from a GLT. Inside, there was plush upholstery, a black headliner on the sedan model, and a speedometer graduated to 220 km/h. The steering wheel was also special, as was the leather boot around the gear lever.
Under the hood sat a B21 with a Garrett turbo, and with 155 hp the 240 Turbo managed 0-100 km/h in 9 seconds. Few cars today still run with the original oil-cooled turbo, however, as they were replaced with water-cooled units when they failed. An intercooler was never fitted from the factory, but one could be purchased through Volvo R-Sport, and with one installed the engine produced a full 170 hp. The finest variants – GLT, GLE, and Turbo – were fitted with fuel injection, and all the engines were of Volvo's own manufacture, with a cast-iron block and a light-alloy cylinder head. No turbocharged B23 was ever launched in the 240 series; that had to wait for the 760 model.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
