Beschreibung
Shortly thereafter, the owner was offered to swap the close-ratio rally gearbox for a 5-speed transmission, which would make the car more user-friendly for everyday driving, but he wisely declined the offer. In 1977, the Kadett was transferred to the owner's wife, who used the car for commuting to work. The following year, in 1978, the Kadett underwent a thorough renovation as the engine had lost its power and rust had begun to attack the front fenders. The car received new crankshaft and main bearings, pistons, valves with stiffer valve springs, and new front fenders. To protect against stone chips and road spray, Lokkari aluminum inner fenders were installed. New shock absorbers were fitted, and the car received a full respray in its original Monza red color with black stripes on the hood.
In 1991, the Kadett was repainted a second time, this time at the paint school in Norrköping as a student project. After this renovation, the car was mostly used for longer trips and camping tours, including a vacation to Austria. In 1995, a new exhaust system was installed, custom-made by Ferrita in Köping, which gave the car a new and fresher feel on the road. In the year 2000, the owner decided to carry out another complete engine overhaul, considering the car was otherwise in good condition and had many miles left to go. Today, the Rallye Coupé is still in good running condition and ready for new adventures. A box with spare parts and four older tires on steel wheels is included, see pictures. Documentation is also provided.

Fakten zum Modell
In November 1966, the Opel Rallye Kadett was introduced, featuring an 1100 cc engine with dual single-barrel carburetors, producing 60 hp. It quickly became a popular rally car. However, significant success in rallying came only after a Swedish initiative.
Despite the 60 hp engine, why not upgrade to the 1900 cc engine from the Opel Rekord, delivering 90 hp? Initially, Opel’s German engineers rejected the Swedish proposal, skeptical of fitting such a powerful engine into the smaller car without extensive modifications. Nonetheless, a Swedish team took matters into their own hands. They installed the 1900 cc engine and transported the Kadett to the factory in Germany. The rest is rally history. Suddenly, one could order a nearly ready rally car from their local Opel dealer. The success came quickly. Motivated by these achievements, Opel developed a Sprint version of the Rallye Kadett, equipped with dual Weber carburetors and producing 106 hp.
During the early 1970s, the Rallye Kadett was a top contender in rally sports. In the 1970 RAC Rally, Opel's Rallye Kadett took second, third, and fourth places, driven by Swedish team members Ove Eriksson, Lillebror Nasenius, and Janne Henriksson. In Sweden, it achieved several national championship wins in both Group 1 and 2. An icon of rally sports was born.
Opel manufactured a total of 103,622 Kadett Coupés. However, don’t be fooled by the seemingly large production numbers. According to transport authorities, fewer than 500 Kadett Coupés, including Rallye versions, remain in Sweden, and less than 300 of these have the 1900 cc engine. So, if you want a Rallye Kadett, time is of the essence.
