Zustand technisch
Starts easily and runs smoothly in both the engine and drivetrain. The automatic transmission functions well, with smooth shifting and kickdown, without any jerks. During a gentle test drive in city traffic and suburban roads, the ride felt comfortable, with good steering, a tight chassis and suspension, and effective brakes. Not checked on a lift, but what was visible looked good. No comments from the vehicle inspection. Equipped with a fixed tow bar.

Zustand Interieur
The interior is in excellent condition, with no noticeable wear on the seats and rear bench. The textiles and vinyl are in great shape throughout the seats, rear bench, door panels, and trim. The carpets are in good condition as well. The headliner and other plastic details are also in fine condition, as are the steering wheel, controls, instruments, and "wood" trim. All electrical components appear to function properly, including the electric sunroof. A newer stereo is installed. Custom-fit rubber floor mats are included, but the original mats are not.

Zustand Exterieur
The car features a nice and glossy newer paint job, with only a few minor blisters. The chrome, trim, glass, emblems, rubber seals, and lighting details are all in good condition. Unfortunately, there are minor damages to the locks and a trim piece from a break-in attempt, but everything functions as it should. A rubber seal on the left rear is missing a corner but is included in the car. The wheels, hubcaps, and center badges are in excellent condition, and it is fitted with newer Michelin tires.

There’s something special about a BMW Executive Car, especially in the color combination of Fjord Blue metallic with elegant dark blue textile upholstery and wood accents. This fine and comfortable vehicle offers a sense of nostalgia and a glimpse into how well-heeled travelers experienced luxury 50 years ago. It’s a delightful enthusiast's car and a classic.

BMW's fortunes improved, and by the late 1960s, they had the resources and capability to introduce a new model one step up in their lineup. Following the BMW 501/502 (Barockengel), the E3 model series represented the manufacturer's comeback in the larger class, also known as the Grosse Klasse at home. It was introduced in the fall of 1968 and was produced until the 1978 model year.
At the front, it featured a six-cylinder engine, developed from the four-cylinder engines, with much of the technology from the four-cylinder siblings being reused. This resulted in the E3s being considered more "driving pleasure" oriented compared to their main competitor Mercedes' more classic models at the time. The new BMW models were designated 2500, 2800, 3.0, and 3.3, depending on the engine size. In the early years, the focus was on the 2500/2800 with dual carburetors.
At the Geneva Motor Show in 1971, an upgraded engine was introduced, the 3.0 S, followed later in the year by the 3.0 Si with Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection. By the 1976 model year, this was replaced by a more modern Bosch L-Jetronic system. With fuel injection, acceleration to 100 km/h was quicker, and the top speed increased to 211 km/h, with a 0-100 km/h time of 7.8 seconds. Fuel injection also led to improved fuel economy.
Customers could order cars with simpler equipment levels or opt for luxury versions. Over time, these cars became increasingly luxurious. Both the 2800 and the later 3.0 and 3.3 versions were available in an extended L version. In the USA, the E3 model was marketed as the Bavaria with some deviations from the "European" versions. A total of approximately 190,000 units of the E3 series were produced, of which around 72,000 were for the American market.
Interestingly, these powerful cars also became popular among unsavory individuals. Many of these vehicles were stolen and used in criminal activities such as bank robberies. It is said that police were particularly vigilant about the later models, as something was amiss. In Germany, they were jokingly referred to as the "Baader-Meinhof Wagen" because the Red Army Faction (RAF) in the 70s often "borrowed" these cars for quick escapes after bank robberies and other actions.
The coupe version, model E9, built from 1968 to 1975 on a shortened E3 platform, shared many technical and design features as well as developmental steps with the E3 series.

- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
