Not used for some time and could not be moved; it should therefore be checked over and carefully started up. The mechanicals are simple and reliable, so there should be no major issues. Not inspected on a lift, but the underside was relatively easy to view and, like the rest of the car, it appeared to be in good condition.

Zustand Interieur

Whether a new owner wants it in the garage, as a work of art in the rec room, or to take it out on the roads, this is an antique model and an iconic little people's car, a "piece of industrial art" from the 1920s. This one was built in 1932 and has a few years left until its hundredth anniversary, but it is a classic, an enthusiast's car, and a collector's treasure.

Fakten zum Modell
The story of the Austin Seven, introduced in 1922, is a special one. When Austin, after the First World War, departed from its earlier strategy of offering a wide range of models and bet on a single model, the result was a drop in sales. Herbert Austin then wanted the company to at least invest in a small, inexpensive car "for the people" as a complement. The board voted it down. But he was stubborn and went on to design a small, affordable people's car with his own money at his home, together with the then only fifteen-year-old apprentice Stanley Edge. Herbert Austin took out several patents on the design and thereby earned a royalty on every car sold. In the fall of 1922, the car was presented to the public. It became a success and remained in production until the outbreak of the Second World War. It was continuously developed and appeared in a wide variety of versions. For the 1932 model year, a four-speed gearbox was introduced, among other updates. The engine displaced 747 cm³ and initially produced 11 hp, rising to 17 hp over the years. With its weight of 360 kg plus a couple of occupants, it was still relatively lively for its time. That was plenty for the city traffic of the day and for the narrow, winding roads among villages, hedgerows, and rolling meadows of the English countryside.
The model came to be built under license abroad, for example by Germany's BMW with its Dixie, France's Rosengart, and American Austin. In total, 290,000 examples were produced between 1922 and 1939.
