"This car had the same owner from the 1960s until just a few years ago. A charming 1920s vehicle that brings joy to both owner and spectators. As with all older cars that have been standing for a while, an inspection and service are recommended."

Beschreibung

This car was sold new in Sweden and inspected on June 16, 1926. The supplier was Bröderna Hansson in Storvik. According to information, it spent most of its life in Dalarna. It was reportedly restored and brought back to running condition by a well-known motoring historian in the 1960s. In the 1970s, it received a new interior and convertible top. The car was actively used at vintage car meets during the 1970s and 1980s and also spent some time on display at its then owner’s motor museum in Säter. A few spare parts and an extra set of tires are included with the car.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

The car starts easily and runs well with no mechanical issues. It hasn’t been inspected on a lift, but it was fairly easy to examine the underside, and it looked good.

  • Zustand Interieur:

The interior is in good and well-preserved condition with a mild patina since the restoration. It is both practical and charming, featuring a sliding steering wheel for easier entry and exit. The steering wheel, controls, and instruments are in good condition, and the gauges appear to function well.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

Nice and well-kept, with a mild patina since the restoration. Equipped with a good convertible top in similar condition. No side windows. Good wheels and tires.

  • Zustand gesamt:

A pleasant and charming car soon celebrating its hundredth anniversary — and doing so in fine shape. A rolling antique with both brand and Swedish motoring history, it’s a delightful enthusiast’s vehicle.

Fakten zum Modell

Chevrolet was founded in 1911 by Swiss racing driver Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant. Durant had been one of the founders of General Motors three years earlier. After a few years, he had left GM’s management but still controlled the Buick brand and its factory in Flint, Michigan. He hired Chevrolet as a driver and made use of his name.

In 1913, the first Chevrolet car model was launched at an auto show in New York. Initially, Louis Chevrolet was involved in the design of the cars, but by 1914 a conflict arose between him and Durant, and Chevrolet sold his share of the company to Durant. Thanks to the success of the new brand, Durant once again gained the resources to buy a majority stake in GM. He then became its CEO and incorporated Chevrolet into General Motors in 1918.

As early as 1912, Chevrolet introduced a six-cylinder engine that would go on to become a classic. Over the years, the company produced everything from family cars and sporty models to the famous “dollar grin” finned cars and utility vehicles (trucks). The first light trucks, the One-Ton models, were launched right around the merger with GM in 1918.

It is often said that Chevrolet was one of the brands that helped make the Ford Model T obsolete. Chevrolet’s equivalent model was cheaper to buy and significantly faster. Its four-cylinder overhead-valve engine was modern and reliable, remaining in production until 1929 when it was replaced by a six-cylinder engine.

The Superior model, featuring the four-cylinder engine and a three-speed gearbox, was produced between 1923 and 1926. Each model year had its own identifying letter; for 1926, it was “V.” The so-called A-platform was offered as a two-door coupé and cabriolet, a pickup, and as a four-door sedan and open tourer. In total, 547,724 units of the Superior V were built. It was followed by the Chevrolet Series AA Capitol.
