"One of the last model years of the classic Mini here in mint condition."

Beschreibung

This model is from "the final series" and has a 1.3L injection engine with 63 horsepower, the same as the original Cooper S.
This particular example is from the second-to-last model year and is equipped with features such as an electric sunroof, airbag, front disc brakes, a 1275 cc fuel-injected engine, and 12" Rover Pepperpot wheels.
The owner has only used the car for occasional trips to car events. To date, this Mini has only driven 5475 kilometers, and it is in excellent condition. It is as close to new as one can get, so much so that it still smells new. The current owner has had the car since 2000, and it is part of his car collection. The condition of the car is confirmed by the mileage. The Mini is delivered fully serviced; see pictures.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

The car runs well in terms of engine and drivetrain. The braking system functions as it should. The tires have good tread depth.
It comes with two sets of keys.

  • Zustand Interieur:

The interior is in very fine and well-maintained, like-new condition. There is a small damage on the backrest of the passenger seat, see picture.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

The car is very nice in terms of paint and bodywork. The electric sunroof is functioning. The rubber seals around the fenders have crept out, easy to restore for the handy person, see picture. The chrome, glass, and rims are in very good condition.

  • Zustand gesamt:

A Mini in original condition and configuration, almost as good as new. The only giveaway that the car has been used is some splashes underneath from a wet road.

Fakten zum Modell

They were manufactured under the BMC umbrella with the names Austin and Morris, as well as the luxury versions Wolseley and Riley. This was called "badge engineering," since they mostly just swapped a few nameplates and grilles. The first Mini, or "hundkojan" as it was known in Sweden, was introduced in 1959. It was revolutionary thanks to its smart and space-saving design, which was overseen by Alec Issigonis. Issigonis envisioned it as a simple and inexpensive car with excellent handling characteristics, and that’s exactly what it became.

One person who truly appreciated the car was John Cooper, who at the time ran a racing team in the top tier of Formula One. He used BMC engines in his race cars and recognized their potential. An idea was born. John Cooper contacted Alec Issigonis, who wasn’t at all interested in putting a more powerful engine into his beloved Mini. Issigonis believed it was a car for the people, not a racing tool like John Cooper wanted it to be.

In 1961, however, John Cooper finally got his way, and an enlarged 997cc (57 hp) version of the original 850cc (37 hp) engine was developed. The new Mini Cooper was born. The Cooper received different upholstery and disc brakes, along with a contrasting roof color. A more powerful variant was introduced in 1963 and was produced in a limited series: the Cooper S 1071cc, which also received larger and more robust disc brakes.

A lot happened in 1964. Three new engine variants were developed: the Cooper S 1275cc, 970cc, and a more refined 998cc engine for the regular Cooper, designed for street use. The reason for producing so many engine variants was the different racing classifications based on engine displacement. These classifications included categories for cars up to 850cc, 1000cc, 1150cc, and 1300cc. So, there was a Mini for every class.
