"Fun car that is becoming rarer on our Swedish roads. A Mini always attracts attention and the yellow original color of this car catches the eye."

"Fun car that is becoming rarer on our Swedish roads. A Mini always attracts attention and the yellow original color of this car catches the eye."

Beschreibung

Previously owned by a man in Bjärnum who had a great passion for fine cars. He successfully ran a car sales business and, during that time, collected several fine cars that were either in nice original condition or in need of restoration.
This car became part of his collection in 1981, where it was restored with new paint in the original color and serviced. His wife drove the car for a few years before it was put into the collection. The current owner has driven the car sparingly recently, only installing new tires and performing regular maintenance.
As a fun story about this car, it was driven by a pastor's wife in southern Sweden, so the car is likely blessed. The car was inspected on May 29, 2023, for a lifetime certification.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

The car runs well and has been recently serviced and upgraded with new tires. The engine purrs nicely and the gears shift as they should. The odometer reads 1611km, which does not reflect the car's actual mileage.

  • Zustand Interieur:

Vinyl upholstery in good used condition. However, there is a tear in the driver's seat. Nice headliner with a few occasional spots. Panels and carpets are in fine condition. All functions seem to be in order.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

Repainted in the 80s with relatively good results. There are some runs on the rear roof pillars. Glass and trims in good working condition.

  • Zustand gesamt:

Pleasant overall impression and English charm to spare. No immediate additional costs, just hop behind the wheel and zoom off.

Fakten zum Modell

The first 'Hundkojan' or Mini, as it was called in the rest of the world, was introduced in 1959. It was revolutionary thanks to its smart and space-saving design, for which Alec Issigonis was responsible. Issigonis' idea was to create a simple and inexpensive car with good road handling, and that’s exactly what it became. One person who truly appreciated the car was John Cooper, who at the time ran a racing team with Formula cars in the top league. He used BMC engines in these cars and knew their potential. An idea was born. John Cooper contacted Alec Issigonis, who had no interest in putting a more powerful engine in his beloved Mini. He believed it was a car for the people, not the racing tool that John Cooper envisioned.

In 1961, John Cooper finally got his way, and an enlarged, 997cc (57 hp) version of the original 850cc (37 hp) engine was developed. The new Mini Cooper was thus born. The Cooper received different upholstery and disc brakes. They also had a contrasting color on the roof. A more powerful version was introduced in 1963 and produced in a limited series. This was the Cooper S 1071cc, which also received larger and stronger disc brakes. A lot happened in 1964. Three new engine variants were developed: Cooper S 1275cc, 970cc, and a more civilized 998cc engine for the regular Cooper. The reason for developing so many engine variants was the different class divisions based on engine volume used in car racing. There were classes for cars up to 850cc, 1000cc, 1150cc, and 1300cc. So there was a Mini for every class.
