"Rare English Sunbeam Special which was renovated in the 1980's and then carefully driven as a summer car. Drives well and has some age related bruises, only needs a service and an overview since it’s not been driven in a while.
I confirm that the car is a 1953 Sunbeam Alpine Special . Rootes produced 93 examples in 1953/4 of which 50 were Left Hand Drive and 43 Right Hand Drive. Our Register records 33 RHD cars remaining and 9 LHD cars remaining. There are probably more survivors in the USA that have not come to our attention"

Beschreibung

Probably the only ready-to-drive Alpine MK 1 Special in Sweden as very few cars were produced. Its upgraded engine HP with a height compression and double Solex carburetors, 97.5 HP instead of standard Alpine 83 HP
According to reports, only 90 Alpine MK 1 Special was built in 1953 and 1954 and since most were used as racing cars, there are not many left.
The last owner of this car bought it 1984-03-30, and the car underwent an extensive renovation. It’s since only driven during the summer months, the owner died and now being sold on behalf of this estate

    Runs well but needs a service and an overview, first gear jumps out when it's not loaded.

    Reupholstered interior in a good condition

    Older repaints that has fared nicely only a few small dents and blister can be found occurs. Good chrome works with some pitting, Original windows are included, and cabriolet roof is nice.

Fakten zum Modell

Alpine Mk I - II (1953-55)
Alpinen härstammar från Sunbeam-Talbot 90 Saloon och har blivit allmänt känd som "Talbot" Alpine. Det var en tvåsitsig sport roadster som ursprungligen utvecklades som tävlingsbil av Sunbeam-Talbot-återförsäljare George Hartnell. Vid sin första tävling, juli 1953 Coupe des Alpes , vann den nya bilen stort.
Bilen har en fyrcylindrig 2,267 cc (138,3 cu) motor med ett höjt kompressionsförhållande. .
Alpine Mark I och Mark III (ingen Mark II gjordes) handbyggdes - liksom 90 drophead coupé - på Thrupp & Maberly coachbuilders från 1953 till 1955 och förblev i produktion i bara två år. Av de 1582 producerade bilarna exporterades 961 till USA och Kanada, 445 stannade i Storbritannien och 175 gick till andra världsmarknader. År 2000 uppskattades att kanske var så få som 200 hade överlevt.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
  • At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
  • During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
  • Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
  • When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
  • If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
  • If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
  • Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
  • For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
