"Today, this is a relatively uncommon motorcycle model in Sweden. According to estimates, the number in running condition may be fewer than 20. We have not found any registration documents for the motorcycle. It is therefore sold without identity documents. As with all vehicles in the collection, the buyer should expect to perform an inspection and overhaul of the motorcycle before attempting to start it."

Beschreibung

The motorcycle has been part of a collection of vehicles in Sorsele. The late car collector Mr. Hedman was a recognized expert motor man and passionate enthusiast who restored everything from motorcycles and tractors to cars. He worked as a caretaker for the municipality of Sorsele for almost 40 years and became a well-known motoring figure in the area. Bilweb Auctions has now been entrusted with selling the collection on behalf of the estate. Several of the vehicles are placed on jack stands to prevent the tires from being damaged during long-term storage. The vehicles could therefore not be brought out for photography, and in some cases it has not been possible to document the vehicles from all angles. Expect the vehicles to require servicing and attention to varying degrees.
Unfortunately, we have no history for this motorcycle.
It was likely acquired in the local area, as that is the common denominator for all vehicles in the collection. The motorcycle underwent a restoration when it was acquired by the late Mr. Hedman. We do not know exactly what was done or when the work was carried out. We believe it was done sometime in the early 2010s.
We do not know when the motorcycle was deregistered, but in any case it was done before the state introduced the central vehicle register in 1973. Here the buyer will have to do some detective work of their own to possibly find more information about the motorcycle. We cannot guarantee that documents for registration can be obtained.

This is a distance auction. The photos were taken by an independent photographer, and information about the vehicle and its technical condition, to the extent such information was available, has been obtained from the estate administrator. BWA has therefore not inspected the vehicle on site at the seller's location.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch

Equipped with a four-speed air-cooled single-cylinder two-stroke engine of just under 250 cc. We do not know when the motorcycle was last ridden; no attempts to start it were made at the time of photography.

  • Zustand Exterieur

The motorcycle was repainted as part of the restoration work. We do not know exactly when this was carried out, but we estimate it was during the 2010s. The paintwork on the fuel tank stands out; we believe that during the restoration an attempt was made to recreate a special painting technique known as Isblomslack, in German eisblumenlack. This was a special painting technique popular in postwar Germany as a less expensive yet elegant alternative to chrome. The exhaust system has been painted silver. Please study the photos carefully for more information about the condition.

  • Zustand gesamt

Rare vintage motorcycle prepared to running condition. Lacks identity documents for registration.

Fakten zum Modell

The Victoria KR 26 N Aero is a German motorcycle built by the renowned Victoria-Werke A.G. factory in Nürnberg. The model was introduced in 1953 and produced until 1955. It became a reliable and popular everyday motorcycle in the 250cc class. The designation KR stands for Kraftrad (motorcycle), and the number 26 marks the development step following the earlier best-seller KR 25. The Aero suffix did not refer to aerodynamics in the modern sense, but was used by Victoria as a model name to convey a sense of modernity and luxury during the German economic miracle (Wirtschaftswunder) of the 1950s. The engine was a single-cylinder air-cooled two-stroke of 247 cc with four gears.

Unlike some older machines, where the rider had to manually adjust the ignition via a lever on the handlebars, the KR 26 N was equipped with a centrifugal governor that handled the ignition advance automatically. Victoria ceased motorcycle production in 1958 after merging into the Zweirad Union group, which makes these Aero models some of the last purebred machines from one of Germany's very oldest motorcycle manufacturers.
