Zustand technisch
Starts easily and the engine ran smoothly and quietly. During a calm test drive in a Stockholm suburb, everything was found to work well, including steering, clutch, gear changes, ride comfort, and brakes. Altogether a pleasant and enjoyable driving experience.
Not checked on a lift, but the vital parts that could be seen looked good, and no remarks at inspections. -
Zustand Interieur
Comfortable and well-maintained interior with fine comfort in the seats and rear seat. The same fine condition on the door panels, trim panels, headliner, and textile carpets. Also equipped with protective plastic/rubber floor mats. Steering wheel, controls, dashboard, and gauges in fine condition. Everything appears to work well. The warning light for a failed bulb/lighting is illuminated, but no fault has been found. A simple period radio with some crackle in the speakers. Fine and well-kept trunk.

Zustand Exterieur
Fine, seemingly original paint. There are a few small scratches, scrapes, and stone chips, but for its age and mileage it is in fine condition. The same goes for the glass, brightwork, trim, emblems, and lighting details. A reconditioning will lift the condition further. Good wheels with loose plastic hubcaps and good tires, age unknown. The engine bay would benefit from attention and an engine wash.

Zustand gesamt
Cars that until quite recently were a common sight on our roads but are now disappearing at a furious pace deserve to be preserved. Entry-level models have previously taken a back seat to cars with more frills and performance, but when a fine example appears with few owners behind the wheel and low mileage, there is something special about it. These were the cars that most people drove and have a relationship with, which makes them, now that they have achieved classic status, an interesting enthusiast's car. Reliable, dependable and safe – and proof that Volvo's value lasts.

Fakten zum Modell
It would conclude Volvo's era of rear-wheel-drive cars with a live rear axle and cast-iron engines. The basic design from the 740/760 remained, but both the front and rear were rounded off. In fact, the rear became somewhat taller, offering even better trunk space. The interior was refined and passengers were ever safer with airbags and more. A major leap forward in safety was the so-called SIPS system, Side Impact Protection System. In side collisions, the impact forces were redirected while the body structure was made more robust. Through ingenious engineering, the entire car helped absorb the forces of a crash. Among other things, the center console was designed to give way so that the seats could be pushed toward the middle. Side airbags were built into the seatbacks. As before, Volvo received a great deal of attention and awards for its development and safety philosophy, which naturally was reflected in the sales figures. Between 1990 and 1998, 246,704 examples of the sedan version were produced.
