Beschreibung

This car was delivered to its first owner in April 2006. It received an undercarriage treatment shortly after that, and perhaps even more interestingly, it underwent an upgrade at Maptun to Stage 1, a chip tuning that increased the original 250 horsepower to 290 horsepower. The brakes were also upgraded, as well as the suspension which was lowered, and a stainless steel exhaust system was installed. The whole package, including the purchase and upgrades, cost over 400,000 SEK. Despite these investments, the car wasn't driven much for various reasons. When the current owner acquired the car in June 2016, it had only covered 2,700 kilometers. Initially, the car underwent cleaning, polishing, and paint treatment. It also received a service with fluid and filter replacements. Additionally, a leaking coolant expansion tank was replaced. The odometer now reads 5,013 kilometers. The car has been carefully maintained, and any minor issues that arose were promptly addressed. Services were carried out according to the recommendations in the service book, with extra annual oil changes. Stamps in the documentation verify this. The car comes with its original documents and documentation. It also includes a cargo area protection net, studded Michelin winter tires (used for one season), an engine block heater, the plastic parts that are not currently installed, and lightly used fabric floor mats.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

    A highly potent car that has been well taken care of. Everything functions as it should, and both performance and handling are excellent. Both a test drive in calm traffic and highway driving left a positive impression. The car feels finely calibrated, and all functions are optimal.

  • Zustand Interieur:

    The interior is in very good and unused condition. Both the upholstery, door panels, and headliner are in the same condition. There is a missing plastic detail in the center console, but it comes with the car. The instrumentation, steering wheel, and dashboard are in excellent condition. The trunk feels almost unused. It has the original audio system with a subwoofer in the trunk and nice rubber floor mats.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

    Nice original paint with some small stone chips. The front spoiler has a few minor scuffs at the bottom. The glass and rubber details are in impeccable condition. The wheels are in good shape with some minor scrapes and scratched wheel bolts. It has newer Michelin Primacy 4 tires. The engine compartment is in excellent condition.

  • Zustand gesamt:

    The combination of its history, condition, mileage, and the car's specifications and performance make it a historically significant and highly interesting classic car and collector's item.

Fakten zum Modell

Saab's 9-3 model was introduced as a continuation of the tradition of type designations like the 9-5. The new 9-3 was essentially an evolution of the Saab 900, specifically the version launched in the 1993 model year.

The first generation of the new 9-3, produced from 1998 to 2003, was primarily a facelift of the previous 900 model. When the second generation arrived in the 2003 model year, more significant changes took place. The previous three-door hatchback, known as the "combicoupé," was replaced with a sedan, or in Saab terms, a SportSedan. The following year, a new convertible model was introduced. These models were entirely new and based on the GM Epsilon platform, sharing some components with cars like the Opel Vectra and Cadillac BLS. As usual, Saab offered a range of versions from basic models to the sporty Aero variants.

In the 2006 model year, the long-awaited SportCombi, or wagon, was introduced. Saab also introduced a new V6 engine with a displacement of 2.8 liters that year. This engine received accolades, including the Engine of the Year award. While the engine initially started as a GM project and was known as the LP1, it was further developed with the expertise of Swedish engineers who had extensive experience with successful turbo development and production. The enhanced engine was designated the LP9, and it was manufactured by Holden in Australia, with the turbo unit sourced from Saab in Sweden. The LP9 engine produced 250 horsepower at 5500 RPM. For the 2008-09 model years, the top versions of the 9-3 received an additional 30 horsepower with the LP9 engine.

Unfortunately, on December 19, 2011, Saab Automobile filed for bankruptcy, marking a significant moment in Swedish automotive history. The model in production at the time was the new 9-5. GM held the licensing rights, preventing further production.

In the summer of 2012, the bankruptcy estate was taken over by National Electric Vehicle Sweden (Nevs), including the rights to the Saab 9-3 model. After more than two years of factory inactivity, Nevs resumed production of the 9-3, focusing on a single model series, the Saab 9-3 Aero Turbo4.
