The car was delivered new in April 1974 to a very conscientious man in the Alingsås area. He had the car rustproofed so thoroughly that the current owner had to sanitize the luggage compartment just to be able to use it. In addition, the car was not even exposed to rain and especially not winter weather by this first owner, whom we now have to thank for preserving a representative and slightly rarer 99 with both automatic transmission and four doors. He sold it in June 1999 to a man without the same sense of order and awareness. This person used the car a bit more roughly for a few months during one summer and autumn hence a couple of minor damages - and the current owner was fortunately and coincidentally able to quickly save the car from an assumed imminent demise. Since then, it has been cared for according to the first owner's model with only sparing use during the summer months. The car has an "abnormal mileage history" according to the database, but it is due to an incorrect odometer reading during an inspection, where it was recorded as miles instead of kilometres. The verified and correct mileage today is 49171 kilometres.

The engine, transmission, and brakes all function well together and produce the typical sounds of this model. The brakes have been recently renovated with original parts from the Saab Club's inventory.

The original blue upholstery is in excellent condition, as are the original rubber mats and blue floor carpets. The headliner has been replaced.

The original paint is in good condition, with a small scratch on the rear boot and a scrape on the left rear wing as reminders from a previous owner. The car also features new Hankook tyres on the original wheels.

Fakten zum Modell
SAAB 99 tillverkades mellan 1968 och 1984 och fick 1972 en vidarekonstruerad och starkare tvålitersmaskin som ersättning till den – får man ändå säga – inlånade Triumphmotorn som suttit i se'n introduktionen. 1974 förbättrades säkerhetsutrustningen med bland annat de nya stötfångarna som egentligen dikterades av amerikanska säkerhetskrav. Trots att SAAB 99 var en populär bil i Sverige och resten av Europa, lyckades den inte riktigt slå igenom på den amerikanska marknaden. Den var oavsett en milstolpe för SAAB, och den banade vägen för många av företagets senare modeller, inklusive SAAB 900 som blev en större succé. SAAB 99 var en symbol för svensk kvalitet och innovation och dess betydelse för svensk bilindustri kan inte överskattas.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
