This 96 SAAB is a well-kept classic with a low mileage and a local and trustworthy provenance. It was delivered new in August 1967 to police secretary Sonja in Tidaholm as the first model year of the SAAB 96 with Ford's licensed V4 engine. Sonja drove the car sparingly and likely not during the winter months. In 1991, she sold the car to her friend's daughter, Gun-Britt, who is the current owner. Her husband, Evert, was eager to take care of the car and proudly displays a red nameplate under the hood. They have used the car during the summer months, but the total mileage has not exceeded 48,000 km. This well-kept 96 SAAB is a rare and wonderful find, with only two previous owners and the V4 engine's first model year.

Zustand technisch
The V4 engine feels and sounds brand new. There is no valve ticking or bearing noise, just a classic SAAB V4 melody. At idling, a minor water pump noise can be heard. The freewheel functions properly, and there are no unusual noises from the front suspension during full lock circle turning.

Well-kept interior with fabric and vinyl in an unworn and nice condition. Original rubber mats and a fresh headliner.

Zustand Exterieur
In the 1990s, it was repainted in the original color with some touch-ups and overspray. Other from that, the paint is good, and the exterior is very neat and attractive. The reverse light hole on the left rear wing is visible, but the original reverse light was lost during the repainting. A comparable lamp should be easy to obtain in the SAAB community.

The mechanical feel is like new, and aside from the repainting, this is a car with a nice original appearance.

Fakten zum Modell
Saab 96 V4 introducerades 1967 som en ersättning för den äldre tvåtaktsmotorn som Saab tidigare hade använt i sina bilar. V4-motorn på 1,5 liter var utvecklad av Ford och var på sin tid kompakt och lätt, och hade en effekt på 65 hästar. Med V4-motorn kunde Saab förbättra 96/95:ans prestanda och bränsleekonomi, samtidigt som den hade en mer lättkörd, modern och därmed trevligare vardagskaraktär än den gamla tvåtaktsmotorn. Under åren genomgick V4:an flera förbättringar och utvecklades till en modernare maskin. Modellen var i produktion ända fram till 1980. Idag är den en eftertraktad klassikerbil och är uppskattad av entusiasterna, kanske främst för sin unika design, teknik och i viss mån fina prestanda. Saab 96 V4 var också en populär bil inom motorsport, mest i rally. Bilen blev känd för sin pålitlighet och vägvinnande egenskaper i rallyskogarna och vann flera framgångar i olika rallytävlingar runt om i världen. De mest kända Saab 96 V4-förarna var Stig Blomqvist och Per Eklund.

Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
