Beschreibung

Jack Barclay in London sold this Derby-Bentley with a "Streamline body" by Park Ward. It is a pioneering example of streamlined shape in the automotive industry. In 1934, it earned first place in the Concour de Charme competition in Bournemouth. In 1982, the car was imported to Sweden. In Sweden, the car's third owner is selling it after nearly 23 years of ownership. During this time, it was repainted in its original white color and maintained by a Rolls Royce and Bentley specialist in central Sweden.

Bentley Motors was purchased by Rolls-Royce in 1931. Two years later, a totally new Bentley based on Rolls-Royce technology was presented. They aimed to create a sportier, slightly smaller car than the factory's other models. It should have strong performance while remaining quiet and comfy. The engine was based on a six-cylinder Rolls-Royce engine that produced 110 horsepower. The higher gears of the gearbox were synchronized. The car was sold as a chassis, and the bodies were custom-built by prominent coach builders.

The models are commonly referred to as "Derby Bentleys" since they were produced at the Rolls-Royce factory in Derby, as opposed to the W.O cars produced in London. There were 2411 copies made in total. In promotion, the factory dubbed it "The Silent Sports Car."

Fabriken kallade den " The Silent Sports Car" i reklamen.
