"A unusual Volvo in good condition."

Beschreibung

In 1939, this was Volvo's most expensive and luxurious model. It was only produced in approximately 1300 units. Fewer than ten are said to be preserved today. Low mileage. During the war years of 1939-1945, it was garaged. The car was decommissioned once more in 1958 and has been stored ever since. The car was in Walfridsson's car garage in Sunne, hidden behind a warehouse locker. The engine can be roll over by hand, but it requires a general overhaul and start-up service. The upholstery is in good condition, but it needs be checked, especially on the doors. The original four-color brochure and instruction manual are claimed to be present, but they were not discovered at the time of the photograph. Newly manufactured stainless steel exhaust system comes in a carton that has not been unpacked. The Volvo emblem, which should be on the tailgate, will also be included.

  • Zustand technisch:

    Not test driven or started at the time of the photo due to long downtime. The engine rolls around by hand.

  • Zustand Interieur:

    Original upholstery that needs to be reviewed, mainly on the doors. Dry cracked moldings.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

    Worn paintwork with traces of use and some rust is present "see pcitures". Dry cracked tires all around.

  • Zustand gesamt:

    The car is in a light restoration condition thats needs a start-up service and general overhaul.

Fakten zum Modell

Volvo PV 53-56 replaced the earlier PV 51-52. The car was modernized with softer suspension, better steering, new interior, and instrument panel. Externally, the car received a more modern front than before. PV 53 (Standard) and PV 55 (Luxury) lacked extended luggage space. PV 54 (Standard) and PV 56 (Luxury) had extended luggage space.

During the war, Volvo developed its own gas generator, which was hung at the back of the car with a support wheel, i.e. not in the luggage compartment. This allowed for fuel storage without using a roof rack. The generator was called "the after-tank". During the war, the cars were primarily delivered to the military and police.

  • At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
  • During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
  • Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
  • When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
  • If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
  • If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
  • Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
  • For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
