Beschreibung

There’s a metal plate in the engine bay bearing the name Roskilde, Denmark, along with a serial number and horsepower rating. While Ford had an assembly plant in Copenhagen for the Nordic market, it’s possible that the bodywork was manufactured in Roskilde. When the car first came to Sweden—and whether that was earlier than the official 1984 registration date—is unclear. It might be worth checking with the National Archives to see if it was registered before 1973, when Sweden introduced its computerized vehicle registry.

According to family accounts, the car was owned by the current (now deceased) owner’s uncle Åke as early as the 1970s—perhaps even earlier. Uncle Åke had begun a restoration, and the car spent time under the care of mechanic Lasse in Laholm, who later carried out a comprehensive engine overhaul. Today, the vehicle is being sold by the estate of the last owner, who inherited it from his uncle Åke.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

The engine has been fully rebuilt with new pistons, rings, valve guides, and valves, and has seen very little use since. However, the non-functioning magneto ignition system was not addressed during the rebuild. This does not affect engine operation, as the car runs on battery ignition—just as many Model T owners do today. In fact, even during the car’s original era, it was common to retrofit more modern ignition systems for greater reliability, comfort, and, notably, a bit more and steadier engine performance.

The rear axle was rebuilt by the well-known enthusiast Kjell-Agne Bergqvist in Tomelilla.
Fun fact: Kjell-Agne was also the grandson of Skåne’s beloved cultural icon Edvard Persson.

  • Zustand Interieur:

Newly sewn plush upholstery on the seats, painted wooden floor, elegant fabric headliner, and stylish details on the steering wheel, levers, pedals, and controls—along with well-finished door panels. The interior feels cozy, clean, and fresh.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

Presentable, nicely finished paint and bodywork, with good glass, headlights, and lamps throughout. The wooden wheels are correctly painted—back in the day, the aim was not to reveal that the wheels were made of wood. However, it’s said that some of the final Model T years, 1926–27, came equipped with the same type of spoke wheels that later became standard on the Model A, its successor.

  • Zustand gesamt:

Late and charming Model T in presentable and reliable condition. The specific model year makes it especially interesting, as relatively few examples of the Model T were produced during its final years.

Fakten zum Modell

The Ford Model T holds a unique place in automotive history. The first cars were produced as early as 1908, and just six years later it became the world’s first automobile to be built using the assembly line method. Between 1908 and 1927, the Model T accounted for roughly half of the world’s total car production—with 50,000 units sold in Sweden alone.

Its construction was simple, featuring a sheet metal body over a wooden frame and a 3.3-liter side-valve four-cylinder engine producing 20 horsepower. Brakes were only fitted to the rear wheels, and the two-speed planetary gearbox was operated entirely by pedals.
