"Swedish-sold car that has been garage-stored for the better part of 25+ years and is now part of the owner's collection. It starts and drives, but will require a full inspection and proper service before returning to regular use."

Beschreibung

This car has had only four registered owners since new and has been garage-stored since around the year 2000. The last recorded inspection was in 1998. The current owner purchased the car in 2018 and added it to his private collection of British classics.

After many years in storage, the engine was started and runs smoothly. The car moves under its own power, and both first gear and reverse engage correctly. A fuel leak was found at the carburetor, which the owner will repair. A full mechanical inspection is needed, including servicing and checking the brakes. With these items addressed, it should not require much additional work to pass inspection and return to regular road use.

Overall, the car appears structurally sound. There are visible signs of older repairs on the driver’s side sill and a few small rust blisters on the underbody. The paintwork shows localized cracking and surface rust in several areas, particularly around panel edges and seams. Despite this, the car would present much better with a proper machine polish and a thorough interior cleaning.

The interior is complete and in good condition overall, with normal wear to the leather seats. These cars are rarely seen on the road today, and this example is well worth bringing back to life.

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch:

The engine started with minimal effort after cleaning the fuel pump and using some starting fluid. The owner will address a leaking pipe at the carburetor. The car runs and moves both forward and in reverse, but it will require a full service and mechanical inspection. The braking system also needs a thorough review. The wheels are in good condition, though the tires are older and should be replaced for regular use.

  • Zustand Interieur:

Interior is complete and in good overall condition, requiring nothing more than a thorough cleaning. The leather seats are in good shape with a nice patina; the driver’s seat shows some wear and a worn lower corner, but no major damage. The door cards and headliner are in good condition, and the dashboard is complete and undamaged, though not all functions have been tested. The carpets are sun-bleached but intact.

  • Zustand Exterieur:

Bodywork is straight with no major dents, aside from a small scuff on the lower section of the right front wing and a minor mark on the left front lower valance. Surface rust is scattered around the car, but nothing appears serious. The paint has a matte finish from age and would benefit greatly from a polish—much of the surface rust would likely improve with cleaning. The chrome trim all around is present and generally in good condition, though it shows some oxidation and would also benefit from polishing.

  • Zustand gesamt:

A perfect candidate to return to the road without major work. The main focus should be a mechanical inspection and brake overhaul. Thanks to over 25 years of garage storage, the car remains solid and well-preserved.
