Beschreibung
A modern Cadillac SUV also occupies the driveway, but the Fleetwood has served as the enthusiast vehicle of the household, driven sparingly during the brighter months of the year. The owner is now looking to replace it with a convertible for summer touring and has therefore decided to offer the car for sale.
The vehicle has received routine servicing and maintenance throughout its time in Sweden. The odometer currently reads 107,020 km. The odometer is graduated in miles per hour (MPH), but inspection records appear to have interpreted the reading as kilometres. While the speedometer also features a km/h scale, its accuracy is uncertain and should be verified.
Included with the car are the original owner’s manual, a selection of literature, and various spare parts. Two sets of keys are also included.
The vehicle has been inspected and is ready to drive.
Teknische Daten
Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand
-
Zustand technisch
The engine starts easily and runs smoothly and steadily. During a test drive through a residential area and on secondary roads at a relaxed pace, the car proved quiet, comfortable, and composed. The steering, automatic transmission with kickdown function, road manners, and brakes all performed well.
The vehicle was not inspected on a lift. However, a video recorded by the owner showing the underside of the car prior to sale indicates that it appears to be in good condition underneath, with all major structural and mechanical components looking sound (see video).
No remarks were recorded at the most recent vehicle inspection. -
Zustand Interieur
The cabin offers a welcoming and comfortable original interior, preserved in very good condition. As expected from a premium American car of its era, comfort is a key feature, with supportive and well-maintained leather seats throughout.
The door panels, interior trim, and carpets are all in fine condition. The headliner is also well preserved, showing only a small tear.
The steering wheel, controls, dashboard, and instruments present very well, and all electrical functions appear to operate correctly. According to the owner, the air conditioning system requires servicing and a refrigerant recharge.
The car retains its original radio unit. -
Zustand Exterieur
The car appears to retain its original paintwork, which has developed a slight patina and loss of gloss over time. Overall, it shows normal signs of use consistent with its age and mileage.
The glass, chrome trim, mouldings, emblems, and lighting components are all in good condition, with a consistent level of preservation throughout the vehicle. The vinyl roof is particularly well preserved and presents very nicely.
The wheels, hubcaps, and tyres are all in good condition, as are the engine bay and luggage compartment, both of which remain clean and well kept. -

Fakten zum Modell
Over the years, Cadillac built its reputation on everything from taxicabs to prestigious luxury automobiles, with quality and comfort as its guiding principles. While many competitors struggled during the economic challenges of the 1920s and 1930s, Cadillac weathered the storms relatively well. After the Second World War, the company quickly resumed production and continued to strengthen its position as one of America’s premier luxury car manufacturers.
The Fleetwood name was used by Cadillac for various purposes over the years, including limousines and higher-specification trim packages. From 1976 to 1996, Fleetwood also served as a model line in its own right within the luxury full-size car segment. These cars followed the traditional American formula of a front-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive. During the mid-1980s, the Fleetwood name was also applied to a smaller front-wheel-drive model, which occasionally led to some confusion among buyers and enthusiasts.
The generation sold between the 1977 and 1986 model years was designed under the direction of Bill Mitchell and was offered as both a four-door sedan and a two-door coupé. Buyers could choose from a range of V6 and V8 petrol engines, as well as a V8 diesel, paired with three- or four-speed automatic transmissions and a generous level of standard equipment.
These models represented a significant “downsizing” of Cadillac’s previous full-size cars. Overall length and wheelbase were reduced, while weight was cut by approximately 400 kilograms. The previous 472-cubic-inch (7.7-litre) V8 was replaced by a 425-cubic-inch (7.0-litre) unit. Despite these reductions, the Fleetwood remained an imposing automobile, measuring more than 5.5 metres in length and nearly two metres in width.
The Brougham designation identified the most luxurious version, featuring a vinyl roof, leather upholstery, additional chrome detailing, and a higher level of interior and exterior appointments. For the 1978 model year, a total of 36,800 four-door Fleetwood sedans were produced.
